Live a Cheesy Life. Trust Me.

July 14, 2016 By Lena

I can’t remember who it was that said, “Live a Cheesy Life!”, but frankly, it’s a motto I’ve trusted for more years than I can count.

(EDIT: My husband just informed me that he’s only heard me say it, so technically, I could have made it up. Which I probably did, while heaping cheese into my mouth.)

I’m an equal opportunity cheese lover. Melted, grated, cubed, sprinkled or sliced… serve it up, I’ll eat it. However, I am partial to smooth, buttery-soft Havarti; its creamy and semi-soft texture makes it perfect for a sandwich or snack, and Arla® Havarti is made from 100% Canadian milk, making it a delicious cheese that’s naturally good. It’s a simple & healthy snack option even for healthy lifestyles.

Recently, I’ve been enjoying a few varieties of flavoured Havarti, including Arla Sundried Tomato Havarti and Arla Herb & Spice Havarti. The savoury additions lend just the right contrast to the milky creaminess of the cheese, rounding out the mild yet satisfyingly full flavour. It’s a must-have addition to any cheese or charcuterie tray, particularly when served with barbecued foods or as game-day fare.
DSC_0994aOf course, I’ve never been one to enjoy a cube of Havarti without fantasizing about its potential, so I’m happy to share a kicked-up version of cheese and crackers with my Warm Havarti Dip.

1 pkg. Arla Sundried Tomato Havarti, shredded
250g light or reduced-fat cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup whipped salad dressing
2 tsp. hot pepper sauce
2 green onions, thinly sliced, divided
1 pkg. wheat crackers
DSC_0991aHeat oven to 350°F. Combine Arla Sundried Tomato Havarti, cream cheese, whipped salad dressing spread and hot pepper sauce in a large bowl. Mix until well blended; stir in one sliced onion.

Spread onto bottom of pie plate or ovenproof dish. Bake 14 to 16 min. or until heated through. Sprinkle with remaining onion.

Now THAT’s my kind of cheese and crackers.
DSC_0992aArla Havarti comes in nine delicious flavours, including favourites such as Jalapeño, Dill and Garden Vegetable to suit everyone’s taste buds. You can find it in the Deli section of your local grocer.

(My advice: buy two. The first one will be gone in a jiffy. Trust me.)

And if you’re looking for daily snacking inspiration, be sure to “like” Arla Canada on Facebook. So go ahead! Live a cheesy life. And tell me: How do you like to enjoy Havarti?
