It’s officially summer! I don’t know about you, but this year, more than ever, I am ready for the heat!
Of course, like many other Canadian families, we’ll be sticking close to home this season. With several travel restrictions still in place, most of our daily jaunts will be to the backyard. But there’s nothing a delicious meal can’t fix! Since we’ll be grillin’ and chillin’ all summer long, I’ve come up with a simple and delicious way to elevate your burger.
Think outside the bun!
I know hamburgers are a family fave, and normally I wouldn’t try to mess with a good thing. However, I think I’ve found THE BEST way to enjoy your burger this summer – by swapping classic hamburger buns with Furlani Garlic Toast!
The combination of flavours is almost too delicious to describe.
If you’ve never thought to use garlic toast with hamburgers before, don’t worry, you’re not alone. I’m actually cursing myself for missing out all these years! But it was a simple photo on Furlani’s Instagram that provided all the inspiration I needed to try this combination for myself – and let me just say, Furlani, my family thanks you.
You can purchase Furlani Garlic Toast in the fresh bread section or the freezer aisle of your local grocery store. While we always have a package of the Garlic Texas Toast in the freezer for pasta night, for summer grilling, we opted for the fresh Garlic Toast.
We found that one-minute per side (at approximately 450-degrees F) was our sweet spot for perfect toasty-ness and enviable grill marks. If you’re timing the garlic toast with your beef patties, lay them on the ol’ grill while the cheese on your burger melts!
Since the slices are infused with just the right amount of garlicky goodness, all the work is done for you – which means less time in the kitchen, and more time spent enjoying a delicious meal with your family.
While Furlani Garlic Toast is my new favourite way to enjoy a good burger, don’t forget it makes a fabulous accompaniment to all your barbecue meals! As a side for grilled meats, cubed and skewered with veggies, or paired with fresh ingredients for an appetizer like bruschetta, it’s a must-have for all your summertime eats.
Quick tip: grill the Garlic Toast, slice into small cubes and toss with your favourite green salad. Yes, you’ve just elevated your croutons, too!
This summer, make the most of your family meals with Furlani Garlic Toast. And for more recipe inspiration, follow Furlani Foods on Instagram and Facebook!
In the meantime, excuse us… we’re about to chow down on the most scrumptious burger ever!

What a fab way to elevate a simple burger as well and make it look just like restaurant style. The bread looks great when toasted as well.
