A short time ago in a theme park far, far away…
Okay, so it’s not *that* far away. (Only a 5-hour direct flight!) I had looked forward to this event for months, and when the time finally came, I was ready to morph into one of the greatest, most sassy droids known to mankind. This past Monday, at Mickey’s Halloween Party at Disneyland, I dressed up as the iconic R2-D2. (Click here for more details on my costume.)
My husband went as himself.
Okay, okay, he didn’t actually go as himself. He dressed up as the ultimate nerd! High-waisted pants and a matching bow tie to boot. (He even has that mouth/ jaw thing going on… it’s quite precious.)
To offset the whole Star Wars-geek thing, I opted for sultry, come-hither makeup using ARTDECO Cosmetics. Identified by its on-trend and fashion-forward designs, ARTDECO has been a cult favourite in Europe for years, and is now available in Canada at select Shoppers Drug Mart stores! Here’s how you can emulate the look, whether you’re trick-or-treating or enjoying date night.
Eyes: Clearly, it’s all about the brows here. To start, I filled in my brows with the Eye Brow Designer in 03 – Medium Dark. I adore the neutral colour; it’s somewhere between a taupe and a medium brown, which blends seamlessly with the natural brow for most brunettes. And, the texture is perfect – smooth, but not too creamy. I daresay it’s my new favouite brow pencil.
For a perfectly groomed look, I followed up with a light coating of Clear Lash & Brow Gel. It’s fragrance-free and holds the eye brows in place, so you never have to worry about stray hairs.
Next, I decided on a dramatic, slightly winged application of Soft Kajal Liner in Black. The liner goes on super smooth and is suited for the inner eyelid because it contains no preservatives or mineral oils. I love Kajal liners because they offer all the intensity of a liquid liner while still offering the forgiveness of a pencil. I lined both upper and lower lids, finishing with All in One Mascara in Black.
Lips: Bold lips rule, especially for Halloween! Here, I expertly lined my lips with Soft Lip Liner in Seductive Red. After drying, it is wipe-resistant and waterproof, so your lipstick never bleeds. I completed my look with Perfect Color Lipstick in Poppy Red (which is, in my humble opinion, a must-have red for any makeup collection).
It’s October! Time to get into the Halloween spirit. Do you dress up for parties? Or do let the kids have all the fun? No matter your age, you’ll love Mickey’s Halloween Party at Disneyland!

I generally dress up to hand out candy at the door – some past costumes have been sexy pirate, witch and masquerade.
