Looking at the calendar, I realize with a start that we’re less than two months from moving into our new house!
Truthfully, this year has been a blur. Between putting our current home on the market, travelling at least once a month and juggling the responsibilities of – well, LIFE – I haven’t had much time to think about how I’ll make the shiny new abode my own. Of course I’ve developed one or two (or 20) to-do and wish lists, but with our closing date just around the corner, it’s all beginning to feel very real.
At the top of my list? Building my dream kitchen. So when I received an invitation from LG Canada to come preview some of their efficient, aesthetically superior and technologically-sound kitchen appliances, you know I was all over it. Hosted by media personality Rick Campanelli and celebrity chef Chuck Hughes, I was treated to a demo of some the dreamiest innovations in home appliances I’ve seen in a very long time.
(Don’t be alarmed if you are irrationally excited by the following images and text – I’m legitimately just as enamoured!)
First up: The LG InstaView Door-in-Door® Refrigerator. Simply knock twice and see what’s inside. No, really!
Think about it – how many times per day do you open your fridge door to a) see if you’re well stocked with the groceries you need, b) look for inspiration for your next snack or meal or c) stare aimlessly, looking for answers to all of life’s questions. In fact, on average, Canadians open their refrigerator door (for a combination of the above reasons) about 20 times per day. (Me? It’s more like 20 times per hour! What can I say – my office is next to the kitchen!)
LG’s InstaView Door-in-Door® features a tinted glass panel that allows you to see inside the easy-access door without letting the cold air out. Simply knock twice on the glass to illuminate the contents within. Translation: “food grazing” is easier than ever.
But more than just a pretty face (er, fridge), viewing the contents inside – without opening the door – reduces cold air loss to help keep food fresher, longer. Plus, with a handy door-in-door interface, you can keep the items you reach for most often in the front, allowing the rest of the groceries to remain sealed (and therefore, colder and fresher) at the back of the refrigerator. It’s quite ingenious!
More reasons to add the LG InstaView Door-in-Door® Refrigerator to your wish list:
– The refrigerator has extra room for food storage, with convenient organization for all of your family’s favourite foods. Plus, the Slim SpacePlus™ Ice System is located on the door, so you end up with more storage space on the top shelf – and you still have storage space on the door as well!
– The LG Smart Cooling® Plus technology, enabled by LG’s exclusive Linear Compressor, maintains the optimal humidity and temperature levels in the fridge.
In love? You may need to divide your affections… because the LG Dishwasher with QuadWash® and TrueSteam® is equally amazing!
Most moms I know have had a heated discussion with family members about pre-washing dishes before stacking them in the dishwasher. Trust, I’ve been there! But that’s in the past, friends, thanks to the equally dreamy and powerful TrueSteam® technology. It virtually eliminates the need to pre-wash! It’s perfect for gentle cleaning of fragile items (like stemware) and can be used for more heavy-duty cleaning like pots and pans alike. Now that’s versatility!
But why is it called “QuadWash®?” It’s actually very simple; with four spray arms instead of two, QuadWash®’s multi-motion arms rotate back and forth while spinning – which means the high pressure jets power-clean dishes from multiple angles.
The best part: the combination of features means you’ll see 60% less water spots for sparkling clean dishes. More reasons to add the LG Dishwasher with QuadWash® and TrueSteam® to your wish list:
– The newly-enhanced EasyRack™ Plus system offers best-in-class flexibility and convenience, adjusting to just about any load of dishes to help ensure optimal cleaning performance. It’s so easy to manoeuvre, anyone in the family can do it!
– With LoDecibel™, a combination of sound-reducing material and a Slim DirectDrive™ Motor, you’ll experience very low noise output at 44 dB LoDecibel™. Translation: it’s one of the quietest dishwashers in the industry.
Ah, talk about dream appliances!
And honestly – I haven’t even arrived at the best part: all the delicious food you can enjoy when your ingredients are at their freshest and you don’t have to worry about clean up. Special thanks to chef Chuck Hughes for demonstrating some scrumptious meals to try, and to Rick Campanelli for being such a great host!
If you’re in the market for new kitchen appliances or are creating your wish list for a future dream kitchen, be sure to place these innovative items from LG at the very top. You can visit LG.ca for more details on their home appliances.

I’m always in awe of LG appliances – they are always so innovative and sleek. The InstaView feature is genius especially for a big family. Growing up, our fridge was constantly being opened and closed because it was almost a routine for everyone to come home and check what food/snacks we had to eat when we came home from school, etc.!
