Boo-tiful You! Just Your Everyday Halloween Makeup

October 27, 2017 By Lena 209 Comments

Note: The following giveaway is open to Canadians only. This post contains affiliate links.

The concept of “Halloween Makeup” is foreign to me. I mean, why would I invest in subpar cosmetics, that may possibly contain several allergens and other questionable ingredients, from a company I’ve never heard of and may never hear from again… and put them on my face, or the faces of my little ones? Shudder.

Nope! Give me all the dermatologist recommended, ophthalmologist-tested, sensitive skin approved and non-comedogenic makeup, and I’ll make it work come Halloween. Bonus: it’s not just a one-day investment! Purchased strategically, you can incorporate many on-trend shades and use them for both your fright night look and your daily (or special occasion) cosmetics all year round. Case in point: my “Zombie Minnie” costume from 2015.
I used makeup I already had on hand: eyeshadow from a purple/midnight blue palette, a dash of black and white eyeliner and red liquid lipstick. Since this photo was taken two years ago, I’ve amassed even more boo-tiful makeup, including sparkly lip tints, shimmery shadows and bold eyeliners. I can’t wait to play with them next week!

If the thought of purchasing random “Halloween Makeup” gives you the heebie jeebies as well, here are my picks for quality makeup essentials that can be used to create a frightfully easy Halloween look… and then re-purposed all year round! Bonus: with Amazon Prime, they ship to your home for FREE with options for one- or two-day shipping!

My son is 18 and he is going to a party as a mobster (I think but things do change). I have no plans for Halloween except handing out stuff at the door. Sometimes I wear an orange and black witches hat to make it festive but the kids around here are pretty young so I do not want to scare the little ones . You are right -you can definitely use normal makeup for the same effect.

My kids are all grown, my grandson is going as one of the characters from PJ Masks. Thinking I will use some of my makeup I have already and do something creative, will let inspiration take over. Love the idea of using real makeup instead of that other stuff that just destroys my skin. Plus I just might have to go buy something new and fun!

I was planning to dress the little munchkin up, but i’ve been having the hardest time finding something we like that will also fit her. She’s only 4 months old and most of the costumes in the local shops are for 6+ months. I found an orange romper with a tutu and a jack-o-lantern face on the tummy and i think that might be what we go with. I’ll pick up some black tights and make a little bow for her hair to match the romper. We love Halloween and next year we’ll do better! The hubby can’t wait to dress up in matching costumes with her.
