Hello, sweater weather. It’s been much too long! And I’ve been awaiting your return – especially since I’ve updated my fall wardrobe to include a few key, timeless pieces.
_dsc0160aThis season, my go-to look is an oversized, chunky sweater with slim jeggings and slouchy boots. It’s the perfect combination of chic comfort and casual elegance, and I was able to find everything (including the boots – hello!) for just $75.91 pre-tax at Walmart.

YES, Walmart.

Ladies, when was the last time you visited the women’s section at Walmart? It’s teeming with the latest fall essentials from George at affordable prices. This year’s collection features everything from quality knits to stylish sweaters, and if the selection doesn’t blow you away, the prices surely will. I fell in love with this George Women’s Mock Neck Boxy Poncho with Sleeves for just $29.97. 

Is it a poncho? Is it a sweater? Whatever it is, I love the versatility of this style from George!
_dsc0190aThe sweater features “fooler” sleeves: even though it looks like there are two layers, there’s actually only one. With open sides for comfort and a chunky turtleneck for warmth, you can see why this is one of my favourite pieces of the season. The sweater is available in two colours – black and natural  – and I’m sure it will enjoy heavy rotation in my fall wardrobe.

(Good to Know: The sweater fits big. I am wearing size XS even though I’m usually a size M. So be sure to size down if you’re shopping online at Walmart.ca.)
_dsc0202aI paired my favourite new sweater with George Women’s Stretch Jeggings in dark green ($14.97) and George Women’s Trip Ankle Boots in a black suede-like finish ($24.97). I’m addicted to pairing basic fall colours like oatmeal with even warmer neutrals such as hunter green, and the black boots are a classic way to complete the look.

Hands up if you’re obsessed with this chic ensemble? Me too!
_dsc0232aNow, because the sweater is part poncho, you’ll have to remember that the sides are open. So be sure to grab a tank top from the endless selection of George basics at Walmart. I selected a George Women’s Seamless V-Neck Cami in taupe for just $6.00!

    My favourite fall fashion item is ankle boots and I would love a pair. I’ve seen others pair them with dresses, leggings and jeans. I like the european influence where a little bit of ankle is showing. Perfect for fall weather!

    My favourite fall item is a button up or zippered Fleece Cardigan. I can take it off easily if I get too warm & I can throw it in the laundry. I don’t wear sweaters because I find wool scratchy & washing instructions say to dry flat.
    The sweater poncho looks good on the model but isn’t practical. Pulling it on & off would mess up her hair & a big wind would blow it up in her face like a parasail. ????????

    I live on the “Wet Coast” so my favourite fall fashion accessory has to be rain boots – my girls and I each own several pairs, many in fun prints and colours, and then one solid “basic” to match any outfit as needed. We wear rain boots for most of the fall (and winter!) so having a few choices is a must!
