Getting Back to Sleep, Naturally.

August 30, 2015 By Lena

I’ve always prided myself on my ability to prioritize, especially when it comes to my health. A clean(ish) diet, eight glasses of water a day, and a good night’s sleep. In fact, I once stated that I couldn’t function on less than 7 hours of shuteye, and I meant it.

Now *I know* you’re waiting for me to insert some anecdote about being a mom, and how I rarely have a restful night, but the truth is, I can’t blame this one on the kids. It’s all me, and it’s all terrible.

It’s the iPhone on the night table – one of the most detrimental habits known to mankind.

A stronger person wouldn’t be lured at all hours of night, but admittedly, I am weak. Because if I wake up for any reason at all, I simply must check my e-mail. And Twitter. And Instagram and Facebook and sometimes even Periscope even though I’m following 6 people and really have no interest in it whatsoever.

Do you know what happens when you succumb to the lure of the iPhone on the night table? You stay awake for much longer than you should. Multiply this by two, three times per night, and all of a sudden, I’m robbing myself of a good night’s sleep. In fact, it’s fair to say that I haven’t slept uninterrupted for over 2 years now.

I need to get back to me.

So, I’m trying two things. The first is that I’ve made a conscious effort to leave my phone in another room. On another floor. And from a standpoint of not checking my phone, it’s working. However, I honestly thought that by simply removing access to the offensive object, I’d gain a proper night’s sleep. It’s not that easy – after years of waking up multiple times per night, I’m now conditioned to awaken every 2 hours or so. It’s horrible!

Enter PASCOFLAIR. Using the Power of Passionflower, PASCOFLAIR offers a safe and herbal alternative to traditional sleep aids, falling under the Natural Medicine category. Traditionally used in herbal medicine, it is non invasive and quite popular among today’s busy, working adults. Additionally, PASCOFLAIR is GMO and gluten-free, works within 30 minutes and is fully registered with Health Canada.

The promise: PASCOFLAIR with Passionflower extract naturally calms and de-clutters your mind, leaving you free to rest and perform the next day.

I’m giving it a try. I like that it’s a natural alternative to the traditional, chemical-laden sleep aids (which I refuse to use after a less-than-ideal experience in my 20’s). I like that it’s non-habit forming and easy to take.

But most of all, I like that there’s a possibility I can get back to feeling well-rested upon waking.

Stay tuned – I’ll be back shortly to report on my progress. And in the meantime, wishing all of you a good night’s sleep, naturally. For more information, visit pascoflair.ca.

I still bring my iphone in the bedroom with me (we use it as an alarm) but i now keep it on my husbands bedside table so that i wouldn’t be tempted to keep checking it

We have a no cell phone rule in the bedroom rule in our house. Cell phones get turned off before we go to bed and left in the kitchen.

I don’t use a cellphone so no issue with checking in at all hours. But I have always been a light sleeper and wake multiple times a night. 7 hours per night? I need 9 to function lol!

I try to keep away from electronics an hour before bed….sadly most days it doesn’t happen. and i’ve tried sleeping pills, it just upsets my tummy, so I’ve stopped. This sounds interesting

I turn off my phone, tablet and laptop at night so I’m not tempted. If I wake up in the night and can’t get back to sleep I pick up a book instead of electronics.

I’m a terrible sleeper because I have a lot of pain and because of that I have to take sleeping pills but when I don’t I really don’t sleep
