Last month, I was afforded the exclusive opportunity to visit Ocho Rios, Jamaica on behalf of Sandals. Unfortunately, I was not able to make the trip, so I did the next best thing; I asked fellow #FamilyTravelCA member Sheri McDonald to experience the resort on my behalf. Take it away, Sheri!
Couples who are looking to escape for a few days will love the NEW Sandals Ochi Beach Resort in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. An all-inclusive adult only resort, Sandals Ochi promises to provide the vacation you are looking for.
The journey begins at the airport in Montego Bay where drinks and snacks are served in the exclusive Sandals Lounge while you wait for your shuttle. The two hour ride to Sandals Ochi goes quickly when you are treated to more beverages, amazing scenery and a quick visit to a rest stop at the halfway mark. Your driver acts as a tour guide and can answer your questions about the area along the way.
At Sandals Ochi, you are greeted with warm towels and a quick check in process. A guide leads you to your room and explains all of the amenities to you. After a long day of travel, the spacious shower and soft bed will be just what you need.
Guests of Sandals Ochi will find themselves staying on either the Hillside or the Seaside of the resort. Both sides have beautiful views, refreshing swimming pools and restaurants. A shuttle runs throughout the day and evening to take you to either side of the resort so you can take advantage of everything Sandals Ochi has to offer.
The Hillside consists of All-Butler villas with private pools or pools shared with the neighbouring villa. Honeymooners will want to stay in the Love Nest Dream Suites where they can celebrate their marriage in complete privacy with a private hot tub and pool with a waterfall. The Seaside guest rooms include butler rooms, club level rooms and luxury level rooms. All are just steps away from the Caribbean Riviera and the Beach Club.
The resort paths are lined with lush gardens and gorgeous streams and ponds. Fish, turtles and other local wildlife can be observed in the area too. Relaxation comes easy when you are laying on a hammock listening to the nearby brook!
In total, Sandals Ochi has 105 swimming pools and 16 restaurants. You can find a shop and a spa location on both sides of the resort. If you are looking for the nightlife, Sandals Ochi always has something on the itinerary. Pool parties and entertainment can be found at the Beach Club on the Seaside, and The Speakeasy is an exclusive party on the hillside.
Anyone can gain access to The Speakeasy, but only with the password which changes daily. Bouncers at the door will ask for the password and you will not be allowed to enter without it. So where can you find this password? Ask any of the Sandals Ochi staff (aside from the bouncers) and they will share it with you. Once inside you will be taken back in time to the 20’s with fabulous décor, retro drinks and live entertainment that will knock your socks off.
Couples who enjoy an active lifestyle will want to take advantage of the fitness center, the landsports and the watersports available at Sandals Ochi. Watersports include:
• Canoes/Kayaks • Windsurfing • Scuba Diving • Snorkeling • Paddle Boards • Sailboats
Guests can also get some private golf lessons or book some private tours with Island Routes Caribbean Adventures. Ziplining, catamaran tours and swimming with dolphins are just a few options you will find close by.
The staff at Sandals Ochi are friendly and attentive. They greet you with a smile and they are often found singing and dancing to themselves. This is a beautiful resort, I’d love to go. However my boyfriend does NOT have a passport so I travel with my daughter, my sister and her daughter. The BF is starting to realize what he’s missing so I think he’ll get his passport soon, I’ll keep this place in mind when that time comes.

Oh, wow! What a beautiful and luxurious getaway! I had no idea there was so much luxury and pampering to be had at Sandals Ochi. The Speakeasy is definitely a throwback that I’m interested in. The private pools in the villas are much appreciated. You can enjoy a swim day or night without leaving the comfort of your home. This is one trip you were lucky to have!
