Toronto Sportsmen’s Show: A Family Affair

January 18, 2014 By Lena

*NOTE: The following giveaway is open to Canadians only.*

When I think of the Toronto Sportsmen’s Show, I think of all the things I steadfastly try to avoid: namely, the outdoors. It’s no secret that I’m not the camping type (I prefer glamping 9 times out of 10, and I prefer a 5-star hotel 10 times out of 10), yet I’ve made peace with my somewhat strained relationship with Mother Nature by using the tried-and-true avoidance technique.

Alas, I have two boys. Two boys who would rather spend every waking moment (and often, even sleeping moments) under the sun or stars. Two boys who hear “It’s time to eat chopped liver!” when I holler “It’s time to come inside!” and therefore, look at me with horror and disdain and often, drop to the ground in protest. I mean really, guys, the sun will come out tomorrow. But it’s time for bed now.

Hence, I’ve learned to become the outdoorsy type in small steps – the kind of steps used in a 12-step program where the only wagon I can fall off is the one I’m riding during a family-friendly farm adventure. So, I’m going out of my comfort zone completely here and taking my boys to the Toronto Sportsmen’s Show.

Think it’s just for hunters and fishermen? Think again. This year’s event is set to be the best yet – with interactive activities for outdoor enthusiasts of all ages.

1. SIZE MATTERS: With over 400 entertaining and educational exhibits, the Toronto Sportsmen’s Show is the largest combined fishing, hunting, boating and outdoor adventure show in Canada.

2. A HISTORIC GEM: The Toronto Sportsmen’s Show has introduced many generations to Canada’s outdoor heritage during its 67-year history. That tradition continues this year with parents bringing their children, and outdoor enthusiasts gathering to discover the latest and greatest products, services and pro tips.

3. A MODERN MECCA: Over its 67 year history, the Toronto Sportsmen’s Show has been the place for sports enthusiasts offering a panorama of outdoor exhibits for winter-bound folks eager for summer. This year, the show will be returning to its roots within the Princes’ Gates at the Direct Energy Centre….
