This school year looks different. Then again, EVERYTHING looks different.
Now that we’ve officially spent 3/4 of the year getting used to our “new normal”, there’s an unspoken willingness among friends, family and fellow parents to simply move forward. No, 2020 isn’t what we expected. Yes, we will pivot and adjust.
Of course, when it comes to schooling, the changes are more evident than ever. From learning at home to in-class mask wearing and hand sanitizing, we’ve tasked our children and educators to establish new strategies and routines that will allow for continuous learning and development – in a safe, socially responsible manner.
However, as new procedures are put in place, of course there have been sacrifices. Whether it’s collaborative play or a reassuring pat on the back from a teacher, there are things we miss – including school fundraising.
Fundraising has a variety of positive effects on students, including improved selling skills, a respect for collaboration and teamwork, learning the importance of charity and community, and encouraging creativity. With restrictions on in-person activities, many schools and other organizations are struggling to find ways to raise funds – but McCarthy Uniforms has found a way to reinvent school fundraising.
McCarthy Uniforms, through its non-uniform line, Navy & White, is now offering McCarthy Rewards, a cashback fundraising program that gives 5% of the price of all purchases right back to schools or community groups (sports teams, camps, workplaces, etc.). The program allows schools to raise money while offering easy access to spirit and grad wear – comfy apparel and accessories such as T-shirts, hoodies, gloves, fanny packs and face masks, customized with their school logo or other personalized artwork.
Yes, I said face masks! Available for just $2.50 each ($7.50 for a package of three), kids can choose between eight adorable designs. These comfortable non-medical masks feature fun designs by kids, for kids, and have adjustable toggles so they grow as your kids do. In addition to McCarthy’s popular line of cost-effective kids’ and teens’ masks, mini masks for toddlers are now available, too. All are made of breathable 100% Egyptian cotton.
The masks are available at rewards.navyandwhite.ca and can be included in a McCarthy Rewards fundraising program. Parents are raving about McCarthy’s masks, and I wholeheartedly agree! Both boys find the masks extremely comfortable and breathable, and the designs are kid-friendly and fun. For older kids, the Kids + Teens product line – which includes face masks and GermBusterz hand sanitizer spray pens (designed to fit into pencil cases or pockets when children are back at school).
Building a fundraising program through McCarthy Rewards is simple. McCarthy does all the work including setting up a custom website for each organization or campaign, customizing artwork on products, and even delivering items right to customers’ homes (shipping is free on orders over $30, eliminating the need for parent volunteers to handle sorting and distribution.)
And if the name McCarthy rings a bell, it may just be a throwback to your own school days; I have fond memories of visiting “RJ McCarthy” at the beginning of the school year with my parents to procure my school uniform. Founded in 1956, McCarthy Uniforms is a proud provider of uniforms to schools and workplaces across Canada and is one of the country’s most storied uniform companies.
This year, let’s move forward by giving back. If your school, workplace or sports team is looking for safe and effective fundraising, consider Navy & White’s PPE, grad and spirit wear.
