It has officially been the BEST ten days of my boys’ lives in recent history.
Disney Junior Channel is back in Canada! This past week, we’ve had a much-anticipated reunion with all our favourites – Doc McStuffins, Captain Jake and The Neverland Pirates, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Miles from Tomorrowland and Sofia the First – and we’re so looking forward to the brand new series The Lion Guard!
It’s so easy to love Disney Junior, because it brings the magical, musical and beloved Disney storytelling and characters to television. I love to see my boys stretch their imaginations and creativity as they identify with, idolize and develop their own interpretations of their favourite Disney Junior characters. Whether it’s commanding the high seas as Captain Jake or learning a new dance routine with Mickey Mouse, they just can’t get enough!
This holiday season, I’m pleased to share my excitement for Disney Junior toys! We know that every child has a unique set of skills, interests and needs, which is why my top toy picks for the season are designed with different personalities in mind. Choosing gifts that complement your little one’s interests will not only ensure the holidays are a hit, it will also help your child learn and grow through the power of play.
To make it easier for holiday shopping and gift giving, Disney Junior toys can be separated into three main categories: those that are perfect for the adventurer, those our little fashion lovers will adore and finally, those designed for natural nurturers.
For as long as I can remember, my 5-year old son Reid has been kissing our boo boos better. He has the most enduring, natural instinct to care for others! And so it’s no surprise that he is drawn to Doc McStuffins toys; he dons her lab coat, proudly affixes her name badge and enjoys hours of role play!
He’s pictured here with two play sets: the Doc McStuffins Doc Dress Up Set and Doc McStuffins Doctor Bag Set. The doctor is definitely in and he loves role playing with his stuffies! Each Doctor Bag Set includes Doc’s bag, play syringe, play otoscope, bandage cuff, sticker sheet and of course, Doc’s magical stethoscope – which lights up!
There’s something so satisfying about watching your child express his interests through play while developing core skills and abilities. Granted, if I was purchasing toys strictly on “What’s Popular for Boys Aged 5-7”, I probably wouldn’t have thought that a Doc McStuffins toy would be a hit. However, since the toy speaks to his own interests and personality, it’s one he can’t put down!
Do you have a natural nurturer in your family? Put the Doc McStuffins Doc Dress Up Set and Doc McStuffins Doctor Bag Set at the top of your holiday shopping list this season. And, don’t forget to spend some time with the little ones watching their favourite shows on Disney Junior! For the ultimate in flexibility, there will also be a Disney Junior Video-On-Demand with access to the latest episodes of Disney Junior programming. (Episodes will be refreshed weekly!)
And now, excuse me while I await my turn to see the good doctor.
This month, I’ll be participating in a media tour with Disney Junior Channel. Catch me on your local radio, morning and daytime television shows sharing the latest news from Disney Junior and the hottest toys for gift giving this holiday season.

This is the cutest kit and I think every kid should have one because I think if they pretend to be a doctor they might not be afraid of them when they go to see one.
