Best Beauty: Clairol Root Touch Up by Nice ‘n Easy

December 13, 2015 By Lena

It’s no secret that I like to multitask. In fact, if I don’t have at least 20 items on my “to-do” list, I consider it a slow day. And I find it particularly satisfying that whenever I speak with friends, colleagues and clients, their first reaction is, OMG Lena, you are so busy!

(I prefer this 100 times over So Lena, what have you been up to?)

12093701_1661637730781623_847648523_nHence, I thrive on deadlines, flip the bird at eight hours of sleep and am that crazy mom, holding onto granola bars with her teeth while she secures her kid in his car seat. I take business calls from soccer practice and write blog posts on my iPhone. And then, only when I’m sure everything can and will get done according to plan, I realize I’ve forgotten about five other things. Yikes!

I begin to shuffle. Blog posts are pushed back. Dinner dates get cancelled. And my monthly hair appointment? It’s always, always, always the first thing to be rescheduled.

After all, *how* can I afford myself the luxury of two hours in a stylist’s chair when there are deadlines to be met? Dark roots and peek-a-boo grays. It was a thing. (Past tense, people! Read on!)

The truth is, with my busy schedule, I normally make it into the salon once every 6-8 weeks, even though with my dual-processed hair, I really should be visiting every 3-4 weeks, max. And although I’ve have guilt about my less-than-immaculate hairline, I’ve never felt comfortable colouring my hair at home, and it’s hard to reconcile giving up half my day (travel, processing, drying and styling) to have my roots touched up at the salon.

But here’s the problem – we travel. A lot. And I began to find myself stressed out days before a media trip, scrambling to secure an appointment with my stylist. Alas, when it didn’t happen, I felt self-conscious about my roots, opting to hide them with hats, ponytails and head bands.

Surely, there had to be a solution – one that allowed me to extend my hair colour between salon visits easily, conveniently, and most importantly, on my schedule.

With Clairol Root Touch Up by Nice ‘n Easy, colour me AMAZED.

(Technically, colour just my roots amazed.)

Now if you’re thinking, Boxed colour? YOU? – please hear me out. Because I too was skeptical at first, wondering if an at-home solution really could stand up to its promises. However, seeing is believing! In the following video, I put Clairol Root Touch Up by Nice ‘n Easy to the test!

YES, I really do love this product! Here’s your Root Touch-Up by Nice ‘n Easy cheat sheet:

– Just 10 minutes to say goodbye to roots and grays. FACT. This is so important to me, because I can forgo spending hours at the salon and have the confidence to know I can take off anytime, anywhere, and have freshly touched up roots.

– 21 shades, designed to match any shade, even from the salon. TRUTH. In fact, with my newly dark brown locks, I had a few options to choose from.

– Permanent color that blends seamlessly. YES. Goodbye salt and pepper grays! In just 10 minutes, it’s like someone had airbrushed away my roots. The trick is to use it on your hair’s part and crown where the grays are likely to be most visible, in addition to any other area of hair that is most exposed with your particular hairstyle.

– Lasts up to 3 weeks with 100% gray coverage. CONFIRMED. I’m happy to report that I was able to put off a salon visit before our trip to California! And when I finally did have the time to schedule in a colour, I had gone seven weeks in between. Sweet success!

The most important thing to remember about Root Touch-Up by Nice ‘n Easy is that it extends the life of your hair colour  so you can postpone at-home colour or salon visits – it’s not meant to replace your regular touch-ups entirely. However, it’s a great option for when you need a quick refresh and don’t have the time (or finances) to opt for a full colour.

With that, I’m off to plan our next family adventure! For more information on Clairol Root Touch Up by Nice ‘n Easy, visit clairol.com.

I simply cannot afford to treat myself to salon visits every couple months. I always use box color for those in-between months & yes there are so many great colors, we live in a new era of DIY hair color!
