It’s one of those things that you really have to experience in order to join the conversation. And even then, since every child is different, your advice should be considered, but not necessarily followed. And sometimes, despite your solid preparations and best intentions, everything gets thrown for a loop. And if you’re really unlucky, something will happen and you’ll have to start all over again.
I’m talking about potty training, of course.
I probably potty trained my first son later than I should have, simply because it was easier to change his diaper than go through the motions of getting him on the toilet seat (he’s resistant to change; I’m resistant to accidents on my Berber carpet). The truth is, I didn’t stress about it – I had never heard of a 16-year old wearing diapers, so I was fairly certain that eventually, he would get there.
That’s why I’m not here to offer foolproof potty training tips… there’s no such thing! However, I would like to share a few helpful suggestions from Kandoo Kids, my favourite brand for keeping kids clean.
1. The Basics: Each child is different but the general age range to start potty training is 18-24 months. Start by making positive associations with the toilet early on, such as showing your child how you sit on the toilet to go “potty”.
2. Routine: Establish a routine that encourages your child to use the potty throughout the day.
3. Patience: Since potty training takes time and every child is different, an abundance of patience is necessary… and a little laughter is helpful too.
4. Stay Positive: Even if nothing happens, help your child feel good about the process with positive reinforcements such as singing songs, clapping hands or give them stickers.
5. Washing Hands: Encourage healthy habits from the start by teaching kids how to wash their hands.

My kids dont like to stop their play to wash etc but i try to make it routine and fun to wash after bathroom before eating and they have a bath every evening after a hard days play outside but the key is to start young and be consistent and make it fun they will remember :)

It’s hard to keep them clean through out the summer, but I enforce that they wash their hands after playing with the dogs, after going to the washroom and before they eat, and everynight they have a bath to wash away the rest of the days dirt!!
I usually keep a moist wash cloth or wet wipes in a baggy, a pack of boogie wipes on hand and give them a wipe down when needed as they buzz by!I remind them to wash hands after doing their business,pet the dogs and always before they eat. A quick bath at night helps them sleep
I keep a package of wipes handy- if at the least I can do is give a quick wipe down – that helps! And just try to encourage hand washing as much as possible!

I find the handwashing habits we work on throughout the year stick with him during the summer. And I have wipes everywhere!! Car. Purse. House.
Between home & daycare my daughter has learned how to wash her hands properly, it helps that we both re-inforce it! I also keep wipes with me most of the time.

Hand washing is part of our daily routine and now with new babies popping out ;) we also enforce using anti bacterial soaps, wipes and sanitizers! We wash our toys and sanitize anything that goes into baby’s mouth! We would love to Boogie with the grandkids! :) tysm
It’s definitely a challenge no doubt! I like to always keep wipes and Kleenex and an extra set of clothes when on the go in case of disasters! I keep my granddaughter clean, by having her wash her hands after she use the washroom and before she eats. Seh takes a bath everynight.
To keep clean and healthy over the summer months we stick to the same routines. Wash our hands when we come in from outdoors, before eating, after eating. I remind my daughter a lot to try to keep her hands out of her mouth but it’s hard with wiggly teeth.
I try and make it a fun activity. Who doesn’t like splashing around in the water at any time. Rewards, small ones mind you, but a reward for a great job always works well.

I am always prepared when I go anywhere with my grandchildren. I carry wet wipes and hand sanitizer so they get washed up often and before they eat anything and after using the washroom and in between when I can see them getting dirty.
I don’t have small kids to keep clean but do have my niece and nephew and let them get dirty at least they are outside playing and not playing video games, clothes can be washed and they can take a bath

We take baby wipes with us everywhere we go, plus they have more baths than they do in the winter time. We also drink lots of water, and they eat a lot of fresh product for snacks. I always make sure to have a big selection of apples, bananas, berries, watermelon, bell peppers etc. in the fridge all the time.
