Food Diary: In-Room Dining at Sheraton Vancouver Airport Hotel

January 1, 2018 By Lena

Food diaries are my very favourite posts to write, like, ever. (I try not to write them on an empty stomach.) In my last post, I chatted about the benefits of breaking up long distance travel with an overnight stay. And, I may have teased you with the following photo –
One word: Om nom nom.

The in-room dining menu at Sheraton Vancouver Airport Hotel features fresh coastal cuisine from Harold’s Bistro, a casual dining restaurant located in the hotel lobby. Named after a customer who lunched in the restaurant every day for over 35 years (no kidding!), the Richmond hotspot welcomes guests with a warm, modern ambiance.
For those who prefer to enjoy a meal in their guest room, luckily the menu is also offered for in-room dining service. On our recent stay, we indulged in classic comfort foods that really hit the spot after a long day of travel.

SPAGHETTI & MEATBALLS
TWO JUMBO MEATBALLS, TOMATO SAUCE, PARMESAN CHEESE, GARLIC BREAD
Jumbo meatballs you say? Yes please! The most tender, wonderfully flavoured meatballs were the runaway star of this show, but the perfectly al dente spaghetti was the right kind of carb coma for this gal. Too bad for me – my mini meatball stole my dish!

NEW YORK STEAK
8 OZ ANGUS BEEF, BROCCOLINI, CRISPY ONIONS, PEPPERCORN JUS, MASHED POTATO
Confession: I could have sipped the peppercorn jus from a shot glass. I’m not adept at cooking red meat, particularly steaks, so my husband never passes up the opportunity to enjoy a good cut of meat when he can. Ordered (and delivered) medium rare, the New York steak is definitely a must have when dining at Harold’s.

FRASER CHICKEN
PAN-SEARED CHICKEN, MUSHROOM, LIGHT CHICKEN JUS, MASHED POTATO, HONEY GLAZED CARROTS, BROCCOLINI
My personal definition of comfort food; crispy seared chicken, creamy mashed potatoes and plenty of veggies. For those looking for a lighter meal that still hits the spot, this. is. it.

Now I feel I’ve let y’all down by not ordering an indulgent dessert, however, the good folks at the Sheraton Vancouver Airport Hotel spoiled us with welcome goodies. Thank you! You made two little guys very happy indeed.
However, if you do have a chance to enjoy a sweet treat, may I suggest Harold’s Famous Warm Bread Pudding? Next time I’m in the area, that will be the first thing I order!

Special thanks to Sheraton Vancouver Airport Hotel for hosting my family during our overnight stopovers. Check out their current offers for a wide variety of savings; you’ll find special promos and packages for all types of travellers.

This post is sponsored by the Sheraton Vancouver Airport Hotel. The opinions on this blog, as always, are my own.

This looks so delicious! We fly from BC to Ontario to visit family and just usually do the trip in one go, but last time we got an overnight stay in Vancouver courtesy of Westjet when our daughter got sick at the gate at 9pm while waiting for flight. Honestly, it was nice to have a night of rest before going home as it had been a long day of flights.
