This Holiday Season, DIY!

November 14, 2017 By Lena

I rarely pull up my sleeves and get all crafty, but if there’s a time to do it, it’s definitely the holidays. In fact, some of my most treasured Christmas centerpieces and decorations are the ones I made (or curated) on my own! There’s no doubt about it: the satisfaction of a completed DIY project is heightened when family and friends can enjoy it, too.

This holiday season, try these fun make-at-home projects from Black & Decker.

Baked Brie
What You’ll Need: Easy Release Nonstick 17 x 11 inch Cookie Sheet
It’s almost impossible to mess up a Baked Brie – simply use a combination of complementary textures and flavours (nuts and dried fruit; honey and apples; balsamic vinegar and bacon). This recipe uses walnuts and dates – and the results are heavenly.

Homemade Happy Holidays Sign
What You’ll Need: Tools Below!
Craft a handmade holiday message with wood letters and bright fabric prints as a way to welcome friends and family into your home. Choose a seasonal saying that best fits your family’s personality!

DIY Holiday Tree
What You’ll Need: 20V MAX Lithium DrillDriver with AutoSense Technology, 20V MAX Lithium Drill/Driver with AutoSense Technology, 20V MAX 512 in Circular Saw, 20V MAX 5-1/2 inch Circular Saw, 5-inch Random Orbital Sander
So simple and yet so festive! This holiday piece is sure to become a family treasure. Although I love the simplicity of the wood finish, my DIY tree would definitely include a spritz of sparkly paint, too!

DIY Coasters
What You’ll Need: 5-inch Random Orbital Sander, MOUSE Detail Sander, 20V MAX Lithium Chainsaw, 20V MAX Lithium Chainsaw
Tell your guests you purchased these from a Christmas craft show for $55… because really, that’s what you’ll pay! Why not DIY and save your money for other holiday necessities – like white chocolate peppermint bark!

Of course, in between the DIY projects, holiday baking and entertaining, you may have a *teeny* mess on your hands. Be sure to check out some smart ways to minimize cleaning time and effort – so everyone can feel a little more joyful.

Ready to get your holiday DIY on? Don’t miss the @BlackDeckerCA #BDHoliday Twitter Party on Sunday, November 19th at 8pm EST! We’ll be sharing even more DIY holiday inspo and giving away amazing prizes. Don’t miss the fun!

Thanks for the suggestions of DIY projects. I also really enjoyed your Twitter party. The coupons for discounts on Black & Decker from Amazon were great too. In fact I used one to get the Black & Decker sander for my husband this xmas. Although I am sure I will use it too because I love DIY projects and I have always wanted a electric sander :)
