The Fries That Bind.

July 13, 2017 By Lena

My boys are at an age where we’re finding it hard to find common ground. They’re developing their own interests and hobbies that don’t always include mom and dad (we’re officially uncool!) and I’m finding myself with more and more free time. While I was hoping for this day back when they were toddlers, now that it’s here, I’m not ready to cut the cord!

Thank goodness we can come together and enjoy delicious French fries. They’re a family favourite and because I’m smart (I always have McCain Superfries on hand) and savvy (I know how to make them the star attraction at any meal), we can indulge in our common love of potato goodness. Tex Mex fries, anyone?
Don’t you love main dishes that don’t require a recipe? Simply prepare classic McCain Superfries Straight Cut fries (a tried and true fave!), layer cooked ground beef (flavoured with taco seasoning) and add warm nacho cheese, chopped green onions, salsa and sour cream. Deceptively easy and definitely delicious!
Bonus: we all eat from the same pan, so we’re forced to sit together and communicate. Quality time over Tex Mex fries? I’ll take it – it’s the fries that bind.

Today is National French Fry Day! There’s nothing better than sharing French fries with friends and family and I’m so happy to partner with McCain Foods, the largest producer of French fries in the world. Did you know that 1 in 3 French fries consumed globally is produced by McCain? It’s true! And chances are, you have McCain Superfries or fries in your own freezer. Today is the perfect day to enjoy them with someone you love.

(Another tidbit to enjoy: the French fry capital of the world is Florenceville-Bristol, New Brunswick, where McCain Foods began. I feel like there’s a trip to the east coast in my future!)

Now, as much as I love enjoying Tex Mex fries with my boys, I’m a little less likely to share my guilty pleasure – Rosemary Parmesan fries. However, in the spirit of National French Fry Day, I’m serving up these delicious fries à deux – I’ve got a date night with my husband and my PVR.
The secret to getting these fries on the table in a hurry is McCain Superfries 5 Minute Shoestring fries. They cook in a flash, creating an instant side dish or snack for a fun night in (and pair particularly well with reality television). Simply prepare Superfries 5 Minute Shoestring fries, and immediately after removing from the oven, toss with sea salt, fresh rosemary and Parmesan cheese.

They are addictive! But do try to share, especially on National French Fry Day.
How much do Canadians love French fries? How do we like to eat them? McCain Foods asked these questions and more in their new The Fries That Bind report. Check it out for all the fun fry facts!

In the meantime, let’s settle this once and for all…

Ketchup or mayo with French fries? We definitely have a preference – can you guess what it is?
This post is sponsored by McCain Foods. The opinions on this blog, as always, are my own.

These both look so good, I am the only one that would like the tex mex fries in my house. I actually have a co-worker in our region who only eats fries, breakfast lunch and dinner..that’s it just fries. And no ketchup either…just fires. I myself like ketchup and mayo with mine.
