Now THIS is a #nextlevel Opportunity!

October 25, 2016 By Lena

The most *amazing* contest is happening right now – and I have to share the details!

But first, a little background. Earlier this year, I shared that Max Domi, professional hockey player (and son of the infamous Tie Domi) was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 12. By opening up about his personal experiences with diabetes, Max hopes he will inspire Canadians to visit poweredbyaccuracy.ca to learn more about diabetes.
maxresdefaultEssentially, the CONTOUR® NEXT Powered by Accuracy website offers a support system for people living with diabetes, helping them to take their management of the disease to the #nextlevel.

Well, in partnership with CONTOUR NEXT, Max is offering Canadians a chance to participate in the Powered By Accuracy 16 Reasons Contest. Listen up friends, because it’s a good one!

The Grand Prize: 4 Gold level seats for 1 regular season professional hockey game (Arizona vs Edmonton) in Edmonton at the new Rogers Place Arena on January 16, 2017. The winner will receive return airfare for 4 people from anywhere in Canada, one night hotel accommodation in Edmonton for 4 people, and perhaps a chance to meet Max after the game (based on player availability)! (Approx retail value: $5,200)

There are also four awesome runner-up prizes, including: two fitness activity trackers (valued at $100 each) and two gift certificates of $150 each for myabetic.com, diabetes fashion retailer.

To enter, simply visit poweredbyaccuracy.ca and submit 16 reasons why you deserve to win tickets to see Max play, along with your name and e-mail address. Why 16? Max’s jersey number is 16, in homage to Bobby Clarke, his idol and a former NHL player who also has diabetes.

The contest runs from October 20th – December 31st, 2016, and the winner will be chosen on January 2nd 2017. See complete rules here.

Now here’s a little insider knowledge. The 16 reasons don’t have to be lengthy explanations. Be creative! Use a mix of brief phrases, emojis, stats or other fun persuasive sentences that will get your entry noticed.

And if you or someone you love has been diagnosed with diabetes, visit poweredbyaccuracy.ca. You’ll find personal accounts from those living with diabetes, along with health-related information from industry professionals, educational videos and an opportunity to submit your own diabetes-related questions directly to Max.

(Be sure to share this coupon to receive a FREE CONTOUR NEXT meter with the purchase of CONTOUR NEXT Test Strips. Professional athletes like Max Domi trust CONTOUR NEXT meter for an easy testing experience, more tracking knowledge with 7-, 14-, 30- and 90-day averages of blood glucose levels, and simple, plain language messages with no codes or abbreviations.)

Well friends, I’ve checked my calendar and I am completely free on January 16th! You know I’ll be entering the contest with my 16 reasons ready – good luck to all who participate!

With my nightmare of a year, I lived on munchos and hickory stick, skittles and chocolate. I was over weight to begin with and I gain so much after I was diagnosed with pre diabetes. It’s horrible I let myself get to that state. I can’t even imagine having type one and having to live with it forever, my aunt has type one as well. Since I moved in July, I have lost 32 pounds, lots more to go but I’m getting there.

Diabetes is such an awful disease! It’s great to spread awareness about it because I think there are quite a few people who don’t even know they have it!
