I’m not one to leave anything until the last minute.
Just kidding! I leave everything until the 11th hour. A serial procrastinator, I work best under pressure and thrive on the stress of a looming deadline.
However, for all my dilly-dallying, there’s one thing I never leave up to chance – Holiday shopping.
You see, it’s all well and fine if I fudge my own deadline or miss out on an opportunity. But I would never do that to the little ones in my life: my boys and nieces deserve to have their Christmas wish lists fulfilled, and when I can find everything I need in one place – with an incredible selection at great prices – of course I’ll be proactive!
That place is IndigoKids. This holiday season, I’ve partnered with Indigo to Make it Merry and help you find gifts that every kid on your holiday list will love!
So, why IndigoKids? A long time “must do” with my kids when we’re out and about, they offer a dynamic in-store experience (and stress-free online shop!) that ignites joy, imagination, and discovery in kids of all ages. Plus, they just happen to have one of the largest selections of children’s books in the country, in addition to wish list staples from popular brands like LEGO, Playmobil, Shopkins, Disney and Ty, as well as specialty brands such as American Girl, The Honest Company, Skip Hop, and Melissa and Doug.
Simply put, it’s a joy to shop at IndigoKids for the holidays!
This year, IndigoKids is back with their famed #IndigoWishlist. Selected by Indigo’s book and toy experts, they’ve assembled a line-up of exclusive and in-demand holiday gifts are guaranteed to please every child on your list! And this season, I’ve had the unique opportunity to curate my own wish lists for the boys!
Now I don’t want to jinx it, but I think I’ve got a little reader on my hands. Ryder has recently taken a greater interest in books, and after visiting Universal Orlando last month, he’s now officially curious about Harry Potter.
That’s why I’ve definitely added Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone: Illustrated Edition to my list. The illustrated books more easily draw younger readers in, while the stories are brimming with rich detail and humour that perfectly complements J.K. Rowling’s timeless classics.
Next on the list: Home Alone. It’s a family favourite from my own generation, so *of course* I’ve love to introduce Ryder to Home Alone: The Classic Illustrated Storybook. From previous special occasions, we’ve already picked up The Polar Express and How the Grinch Stole Christmas from IndigoKids. Now it’s time to bring Kevin McCallister and his shenanigans into our home!
As for Reid, well, whereas Ryder is the strong, silent type, Reid needs noise to feed his mojo. The Wood Rocker marries classic composition and technology: this app-enabled instrument give a new meaning to the phrase “air guitar”! Simply install the Apple and Android-compatible app on your smartphone, strap it to the Strat-shaped design and simulate axemanship by strumming the screen in four different modes of play. (Just remember to remove the smartphone before smashing the instrument for the big finale!)
And I just couldn’t resist the Djeco Colourful Tent. For my little guy who loves pretend play, this gives him the perfect little space to retreat when he needs some down time.

Another reason to love Indigo leading up to the holidays? Indigo is stocked with gorgeous wrapping paper, bags, tags and cards. Plus, gift wrap is always FREE for all kids’ presents. (Yes, FREE!)
If you’d like a sneak peek of what they’ve got in store for Christmas 2016, pop in to a Chapters or Indigo location this Saturday, October 22 for the IndigoKids Open House! There’ll be story time, hands-on play, activities, giveaways and more – plus a chance to get those wish lists ready for Santa!
And now that I’ve assembled my list for the boys, I’ve got my niece (and niece-to-be!) to shop for! Time to create another IndigoKids Wish List for baby girls. (Think: all things PINK!)

Starting early and keeping kids reading as much as possible is so important to their education and all around development. Kids do not learn everything in school and keeping them entertained and reading regularly, I found helped my son in life so much.
