Today’s Post is Brought to You by the Number 28

May 17, 2016 By Lena 87 Comments

Twenty-Eight. Vingt-Huit. Veintiocho. No matter how you say or spell it, it’s a beautiful number.

It’s the number of lunches I have left to make in the 2015-2016 school year. It’s the number of times I’ll hover over the kitchen counter, cutting a red apple for the kid who doesn’t like green grapes and peeling an orange for the kid who doesn’t like brown pears (this makes more sense if I draw you a directional diagram). It’s the number of times I’ll hear sounds of protest from both kids as I pack what I thought was their favourite food… only to find out it was their favourite food *last week*.

I’m done.

Thankfully, I have two saving graces. The first is the fact that the end of the school year is around the corner. The second is Schneiders Simply Lunch.
DSC_0368aNow you may not have pegged me for a lunch kit kind of mom. Truthfully, even I didn’t know I was a lunch kit kind of mom, until I was recently introduced to NEW Schneiders Simply Lunch.

First and foremost, let’s talk about why my kids love them. They offer tasty choices with flavours that are familiar to small palates: the Ham & Cheese lunch kit includes smoked ham slices, Colby cheese, wheat crackers and chocolate chip cookies; the Turkey & Cheese lunch kit includes smoked turkey slices, Colby cheese, wheat crackers and chocolate bear cookies. The kits are well portioned for smaller appetites and of course, giving a child the chance to “play” with their food always ups the enjoyment factor.
DSC_0369aNow, why do moms love them? The new kits are made with real cheese and no nitrates or preservatives added. In terms of lunch kits, Simply Lunch is one of the healthier options on the market! And if we’re being totally real here, from time to time, I need a break from the monotony of making school lunches, and my kids should enjoy a lunch they’re simply happy to eat. Since discovering the kits about a month ago, they now have appeared in both Ryder and Reid’s lunch boxes on Thursdays.

(Why Thursdays? It’s the day after Wednesday, which is Pizza Day. So technically, I get two days off mid-week. I know, I’m a genius.)
DSC_0371aCan you keep a secret? I officially LOVE Simply Lunch kits… for my own selfish consumption. They’re the perfect 3pm snack! The kit has my preferred balance of salty and sweet, and, paired with some fresh fruit and a glass of milk, it’s actually a great way to ward off more unhealthy cravings like chips, candy or chocolate.

Of course, I always save the cookies for my little guy to enjoy… anything to see him smile :)
DSC_0373aNEW Schneiders Simply Lunch kits are now available at your local grocery store. If, like me, you’re in the home stretch of school lunches and are looking for some relief, give them a try! I know your kids will love them, and I have a feeling you’ll love them, too.

For more information, connect with Schneiders on Facebook or Twitter. You can also enter to win a bundle of five (5) FREE Schneiders Simply Lunch product coupons! Simply fill the form below with your qualifying entries. Good luck!

Hi Lena , I love your writing .. But please don’t feed this to your kids..close to 25 percent sodium and fat ! They don’t need this. Our tax dollars go towards R n D for keeping children healthy. If we feed these to our kids, we are wasting our own hard earned money.
