A few months ago, I shared with y’all a shopping theory I’ve been developing for years.
When shopping, all things the same, 9 out of 10 times, Walmart Canada will have the lowest price.
Simply put, that means you can’t lose shopping at Walmart – on staples goods, brand names, groceries and gear, you can shop in confidence knowing that the prices are not only competitive, but in some cases, a downright steal.
Think I don’t practice what I preach? Here’s a picture of my shopping cart – only halfway through a weekly grocery run. That cart was eventually overflowing with fresh meat and produce. Because, Quality + Great Prices makes this mom happy.
However, if I thought I was a stealth shopper before, the new FLIPP 2.0 app has taken my shopping savvy to new heights. Now pay attention, because I’m about to save you money. TONS of money.
Hands up if you create a shopping list? Sure! Most of us do. Sometimes, it’s the only way to remember a bunch of green onions or a package of Chinese broccoli (which you can find at Walmart, by the way). And, having a family with young children, I’ve got enough on my mind without worrying about a cart full of sundry and packaged items that are par for the course. So, I’ve been writing grocery lists for years.
Now, I create them in FLIPP 2.0.
Let me show you why it’s so, so much easier – and so much more economical – to use the app for your weekly grocery runs.
Step 1. Open the app and begin writing your grocery list. I usually start with the items that first come to mind, such as fresh and packaged staples we buy week to week. As soon as you complete an entry, FLIPP automatically searches local flyers for deals on the product!
For example, as soon as I added toilet paper, FLIPP immediately informed me that there were 16 deals in local flyers. Since Walmart price matches current sales – directly from the FLIPP app by simply showing the cashier your smartphone – I was able to add a sale from No Frills to my clippings. When the clipping is added, FLIPP automatically adds a clipping icon (shown as circled “1”, as demonstrated above) to remind you that for this grocery list item, a clipping is attached.
Step 2. Go ahead and search the flyer of the store you’ll be visiting, to take advantage of the other great sales and promotions. Because we shop at Walmart, where the prices are always fabulous, it wasn’t difficult to find items to add to our list! And hello – have you noticed how the selection of organic, ethnic and specialty items is constantly growing?
Step 3. Shop! And as you shop, use the FLIPP 2.0 app to find your items and cross them off your list. Don’t forget all those price match items!
Step 4. Pay for your purchases. Tip: I like to separate my price match items, leaving them for the very beginning or end. That way, I’m not constantly eyeing the grocery belt, trying to find the items that require a price override.
Step 5. Revel in the savings. Congratulate yourself on a job well done! In this case, I saved $33.47 by creating a list, shopping the flyer and price matching for the best deals. In shopaholic language? That’s $33.47 into my shoe fund.
If you’re interested in saving money – and really, who isn’t? – you need to do two things. First, shop at Walmart Canada – you’ll find the lowest prices on everyday items, and the hottest sales on brand names. Then, download the Flipp 2.0 app, and save even more at Walmart by being a savvy flyer reader. Flipp 2.0 makes it easy!

I love the Flipp App. I haven’t used the grocery list part of the App because I have been using the OutofMilk App for that. I might have to transition.
