Fisher-Price Moms Top 10

March 25, 2015 By Lena

Note: The following giveaway is open to Canadians only.

I’ve often heard that it’s better to have a “difficult” baby the first time ’round. The colicky, demanding, trouble-making type. And the rationale behind this? Subsequent babies will be a cakewalk, because you’ve already experienced the worst.

In theory, this sounds reasonable.

Reality? I had one of those difficult first-time babies, and let me tell you, I did not feel reassured. I felt exhausted, defeated, moody, irrational, and exhausted. (Did I say exhausted twice?)

Often, all I hoped for was a mommy moment. A chance to brush my hair or brew a cup of coffee. A few minutes to sit down and catch up on email, or finally finish the book I started while I was pregnant. And from time to time, I longed to have a shower longer than 6 minutes.

(I won’t lie. Now that my kids are older, I take 25 minute showers, because I can.)

So, I improvised. I purchased toys and baby gear from the most trusted toy brand in the world, Fisher-Price, and boy, did I ever use them. I used a Jumperoo when I needed a moment to freshen up; I let my son play with the Rock-a-Stack while I made dinner. And just before nighttime, during that crucial moment of slumber, I allowed the sweet melodies of the Fisher-Price Ocean Wonders Aquarium soothe my baby to sleep.
DSC_0627For me, it’s a Top 10 Pick.

Earlier this year, I was asked by Fisher-Price to select my favourite products in the baby toy and gear categories. And when my list was set, I was amazed to see how closely it mirrored the selections on Fisher-Price Mom’s Top 10. The website showcases moms’ favourite toys and baby gear – the products that baby loves, parents’ trust, and most importantly, allow mom a chance to sneak in that #fpmommymoment.

PrintBut it’s more than that. MomsTop10.ca is a one-stop shop for gift giving, nursery planning, and a place to read about other moms’ mommy moments, whether it be bathing baby for the first time, or dealing with the politics of potty training. And with direct links to online retailers – including Walmart.ca, where you’ll always find incredible prices on Fisher-Price toys and baby gear – it’s a website you’ll return to again and again.

So let’s just chat about the Ocean Wonders Aquarium, shall we?

Soothe and captivate baby with classical lullabies, ocean sounds and realistic swimming motion, right in the comfort of the crib. The Ocean Wonder Aquarium plays one of 5 musical melodies (or one of 3 sound effects) while bubbles rise upwards to the “surface”. Mama Fish has a realistic motion as she appears to be swimming through the water, followed closely behind by her baby. And, their little crab friend plays peek-a-boo behind the coral as the seaweed sways gently in the waves.
DSC_0641Today, the Ocean Wonders Aquarium provides a soothing serenade for my sweet little niece. She loves taking in the lights, sounds and bubbles – and with up to 18 minutes of continuous musical play, 4 classical styled songs, 2 sound effects and 3 modes of use – you could say she’s okay to spend a few extra minutes in her crib, giving my sister-in-law more mommy moments to herself. Okay… maybe just a few more.

Of course, with a face like this, how could you not want to pick her up?
DSC_0648Mommy Moment #8: You won’t even have to sneak out. The Ocean Wonders Aquarium is ON SALE right now at Walmart.

One of my lucky readers will win the Fisher-Price Ocean Wonders Aquarium. To enter, simply fill the form below with your qualifying entries. And now, I’m off to enjoy a few moments to myself – and today’s mommy moment includes a latte and biscotti :)

It’s kinda funny how many of those toys I already have. My 3 LOs got a lot of Fisher-price toys for Christmas and most of my baby gear is fisher-price. I have the old version of the aquarium, which unfortunately no longer works, but it was one of my favourite items for my first. My daughter was a big fan of the rock a stack and the sorting blocks!

The Fisher Price Ocean Wonders Aquarium is right up there in my Top 10, just for the fact that it can help baby to self soothe! Followed closely is my love of the Snuggabye Bouncer, which my grand daughter, who at only 3 weeks old, bounces in delight to when Mommy puts music on!! Incredible invaluable Fisher Price :)
