Warm Buddy

Everybody Needs a Warm Buddy #Giveaway

January 16, 2012 By Lena

The following giveaway is open to US/CAN residents.

Baby, it’s cold outside.

(Technically, it’s a balmy 4 degrees Celsius in Toronto. And raining cats and dogs. But, it’s cold overall, k?)

Time to pull on my fuzzy socks, grab a mug of hot chocolate, and relax with my Warm Buddy Body Wrap. BLISS.

Now if you haven’t heard of Warm Buddy, you are 1) new to my blog and 2) missing out LARGE.

Warm Buddy Company was founded by Karen McKee. Her background as a Registered Nurse, combined with her interest in alternative therapies, herbal medicine and aromatherapy, led to studies in India at a natural healing hospital. She noted the hospital’s application of herbal preparations and heat therapy to provide comfort and relief for many conditions.

Upon her return to Canada, Karen discovered a heat wrap that was microwaveable and loved using it – so easy and comforting. An idea was born.

Karen developed the first Warm Buddy heat wrap in 1995. These heat wraps surpassed what was on the market with improved heat holding capabilities, the addition of herbs and essential oils and unique designs and shapes. Originally, Warm Buddy products were aimed at the medical market and were widely used by medical practitioners and massage therapists in their treatments.Today, Warm Buddy has an enviable assortment of home and spa comfort products in addition to their children’s lineup of adorable warm-up plush animals. All of the products are proudly made in North America, and contain the highest quality and longest heat holding packs and wraps available….

Warm Buddy Baby Blankets

January 24, 2011 By Lena

Brrr… it’s cold outside. One of the perils of living in Canada – this thing called “Winter”. On the bright side, Ryder gets to snuggle up to his Warm Buddy Beary, and I tuck a Body Wrap in between the sheets to make my bed oh-so-tropical. Warm Buddy heat therapy products are the perfect way to relax and rejuvenate with warmth and comfort – especially when its 30 below outside!

But did you know that Warm Buddy also offers non-heated items? From scarves to slippers, robes to throws, the company creates ultra plush and luxurious products that add just another dimension of warmth and comfort –  especially welcome on cold winter nights. Warm Buddy graciously sent Baby Reid a welcome gift – a Baby Blanket with Mini Kat – and both mama and baby are in love.

(Now I just had to settle on the Leopard print – after all, Reid will outgrow the blanket, but I’ll always need a light throw on my lap while typing!)

I wish you could feel how thick, soft and luxurious this blanket is. It’s quite possible the plushest blanket I’ve ever felt – and trust me, I’ve felt tons. You hand will glide effortlessly over the silky surface, and you won’t be able to resist bringing the blanket to your face to stroke it softly. I’m not embarrassed to admit I’m doing just that as I type. Mmmm. So plush.

Also evident is the superb quality – every seam, stitch and fold is just so, echoing the same standards of quality represented by all Warm Buddy products. And why not? It’s MADE IN CANADA. In fact, after several washes, the blanket actually feels and looks better than a brand new one I purchased from a very upscale retailer. It’s completely fabulous.

And I know I’m hogging this review – technically, I should be writing about how much my baby loves it. Let’s just say that he doesn’t travel very far without it…

Did I mention that Reid loves chewing on Baby Kat? The little toy has collected her fair share of drool!

From the website: “Wrap your baby in ultimate softness. Each blanket comes with a tiny version of our cozy and comforting Dream Pet Mini Bear. The Leopard baby blanket comes with Mini Kat. Mini Pets are not to be heated. Machine washable ultra plush material. Made in Canada. 28″ X 32″. Retail Price: $39.95.”

Colour options include chocolate/pink bubble two toned, chocolate with green polka dots, cream, pink and leopard with mini cat.

Word of advice? Be a good friend, and buy this Baby Blanket for a wee one you know. Baby and Mama will thank you – especially on winter nights like this one!

Warm Buddy Beary… It’s One of A Kind!

November 12, 2010 By Lena

It’s part two of my Warm Buddy feature… and hands down, this is the coolest (and warmest) bear I’ve ever encountered!

Warm Buddy Beary, a PTPA Award Winner, is the very perfect bedtime companion to help relax and soothe children to sleep.

Wondering what makes him so special? Beary comes with a removable inner heat pack that can be warmed in the microwave or cooled in the freezer – a wonderful advantage for cuddling up on cold winter nights or cooling off feverish children. We’ve taken Beary along on countless road trips in the winter – with his soft, fuzzy belly radiating soothing warmth, he is the perfect travel companion too.

But don’t take my word for it – Ryder loves Beary! He is his preferred bed mate and even makes an appearance at the dinner table from time to time (Beary has a separate booster seat of course). The bear is so soft, cuddly and perfect for snuggling. Just by touch, there is absolutely no way you can tell that there is a heat/cool pack buried in Beary’s tummy; a definite bonus when matched up against curious little fingers (strong velcro fasteners keep the bear closed at the back).

Also impressive is that the stuffed animal looks just like the bears you would find at high-end toy stores. I’m talking FAO Schwartz calibre! It’s impossible not to notice the quality visible in every aspect of the bear – from the fact that it is made in North America with 100% polyester fibres to the fine sewing detail made evident by Beary’s durability. Even the heat/cool pack is filled with natural milled rice – so if some reason it tore open, there’s no need to worry about chemical-laden products spilling all over the place.

In my experience, the pack was heated perfectly after zapping it for 1.5 minutes. It retained most of its heat for about 45 minutes and then cooled off completely in less than one hour (thereby eliminating the fear of a child overheating). When frozen, the bear let off a subtle cooling sensation which made it both possible to cuddle the bear and appreciate the fringe benefits.

Beary is available in 3 sizes (small, large and jumbo) and 3 colours (chocolate, cream and black). Warm Buddy is proud to donate a portion of sales to Bears Matter and their conservation efforts. Bears Matter’s mission is to help conserve all species of wild bear populations, by providing a forum and funding for specific bear conservation issues around the world.
