There are some things in life that don’t mix well.
Britney Spears and singing live.
Mexico and drinking water.
Hats and sunglasses (seriously, choose one. Otherwise you’re over-accessorizing.)
And, toddlers and special occasions.
Why must we be subjected to spending tons of money on swanky clothes, knowing that the little ones will grow out of them before the next wedding/anniversary/Communion/Bar Mitzvah/coronation ceremony rolls around?
It is, of course, a part of life. Ryder has attended three weddings in the past three years, and has required a new outfit each time. To tell the truth, the suits and shirt sets don’t bother me too much – Sears always comes through with an affordable, studly outfit – but it’s the shoes. When will my 4 year old wear shiny black tuxedo shoes again???
And so, when one of my then-engaged girlfriends asked Ryder to be a ring boy in her wedding ceremony, I was only too thrilled… and a little bit grumpy. Damn, another pair of $50 dress shoes down the drain.
Thankfully, my girlfriend is very practical: she allowed that as long as the shoes were dark, she didn’t mind if Ryder was decked out in sneakers. What? A pair of wedding shoes he could reuse? Hallelujah!!
So it’s only natural that when I began searching for dark, stylish shoes that Ryder would be comfortable wearing again and again, I thought of SKECHERS.
Think they’re only about fitness trainers? Think again.
SKECHERS has an amazing selection of Boy’s Casual Shoes; with sleek designs and SKECHERS’ savvy craftsmanship, it wasn’t difficult to settle on a style I loved: Quantum Vex in Black. And, since the folks at SKECHERS totally rock, they were happy to send a pair Ryder’s way….
