Put Education First: Monsters University

November 6, 2013 By Lena

As many of y’all know, I am officially a student of Monsters University! Yep, back in May, I received acceptance into the university and have been studying around the clock in the school’s elite Scare Program. Term finals are just around the corner – wish me luck!

Of course, back in the Spring, I was letting y’all know about the coming release of the movie in theatres. And now, I’m happy to share even more exciting news: Last month, Disney•Pixar celebrated the release of “Monsters University” on Digital HD and Digital HD 3D on October 8, 2013, followed by the 4-Disc Ultimate Collector’s Edition Blu-ray 3D Combo Pack, 3-Disc Collector’s Edition Blu-ray Combo Pack, 3-Disc Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD and On-Demand on October 29, 2013. Whew! That’s quite a widespread release, but now, your options are limitless!

Now I’ll be the first to admit that I too am enamoured with the animated film. In fact, since getting my hands on a review copy of the 3-Disc Blu-ray Combo Pack, I’ve lost hours in productivity as I watch along with the boys. From the painful cuteness of Mike Wazowski as a young boy, to the perfect comedic ensemble of Oozma Kappa, the movie will delight kids of all ages….

It’s Friday Night! And that means… you guessed it… it’s Movie Night!

(Also known as “Ignore the Kids for 90 Minutes Night”. Or, “I’ve Got an Hour-or-So to Myself Night”.)

We’re a big fan of movie nights chez Lena. The boys have a chance to enjoy a brand new movie – or frequently watched favourite – and I can catch up on the gazillion things I have on my “to do” list. In fact, this post is brought to you by A Turtle’s Tale 2 – Sammy Escapes From Paradise; the boys are currently enjoying their second screening! In case it’s not obvious, here’s how to successfully throw a movie night:

Step 1. Pop up some delicious popcorn. We love it Italian-style; I simply toss air-popped corn with a bit of butter, Italian seasoning and grated Parmesan cheese. Yum!

Step 2. Get the kids on the couch. This may or may not take a lot of convincing, depending on their mood and level of hyperactivity. To expedite this process, waft freshly popped Italian popcorn in front of their noses. That should do the trick every time.

Step 3. Put in a kid-friendly movie. Tonight, we’re all about Sammy & Ray in A Turtle’s Tale 2….
