I don’t think I’m alone when I say I’ve had a little extra time on my hands over the last few months. My newfound slower pace – originally unwelcome, but we all must adapt – had given me much time to reflect on many things, including my life, habits, and the changes I could make to better myself. I’ve invested in so many things over the years – a new home, new car, my career, my children – I’d finally realized that it was time to invest in my well-being.
My mother taught me that minor adjustments can often lead to major change. Here are some of the investments I’ve made this fall, with the hopes that I’ll continue on my path as winter quickly approaches.
1. Serenity Now. Accepting that our current situation may actually be our long-term situation was my key to finding inner peace. For weeks I lamented for things to return to normal. Now, I’ve found something better than normal – the ability to adapt. Taking the time to sort through my feelings, and pushing myself to embrace ambiguity, was the single best investment I could make in my emotional well-being… and it didn’t cost a thing!
2. Restarting a Regimen. I’ve made countless promises to myself over the years that I would stick to a quality skin care regimen. Turns out that staring at my face for hours in online meetings was the perfect motivation to get back on the wagon! Combined with the fact that I simply had more time on my hands, I knew it was time to refocus. I restarted my morning and nightly skin care routine with SkinMedica products; two months in, my skin looks fabulous. I’m particularly obsessed with TNS Recovery Complex! TNS Recovery Complex has the highest concentration of a patented growth factor blend, 93.6% Tissue Nutrient Solution (TNS) with over 380 growth factors and cytokines identified. Translation: It’s clinically tested to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while improving skin tone and texture.
After all, if I’ve taken the time and care to invest in my inner beauty, I should do the same for my outer beauty too, right?
3. Making Longer Term Commitments. Speaking of both a) skin care and b) investing in oneself, I’m ready to resume the conversation to see if facial fillers are right for me. Last year I spent a lot of time learning about JUVÉDERM® fillers, the science behind MD Codes, and scrutinizing before and after results. I feel very well equipped to make an informed decision and am looking forward to reconnecting with a cosmetic dermatologist to take the next step. As I’ve talked about before, JUVÉDERM® is the world’s leading brand of hyaluronic acid facial filler that provides you with a personalized plan to help you achieve natural-looking, long lasting results for 9-24 months. And while fillers, of course, may be a more sizable investment than my previous examples, I think of them as a valuable investment in self-confidence, self-actualization and self-love. (And that’s actually kind of priceless.)
One of the things I’ve been doing to prep for my consultation is to test out the JUVÉDERM® Visualizer to see what is possible with treatment. You can check it out for yourself here.
4. Eating a Rainbow. When the pandemic restrictions were first put in place, I swore off takeout for months. Like so many others, I rediscovered my love for cooking and baking! In the process, I realized what food should taste like. Suddenly, I was craving crisp vegetables and farm-fresh berries; warm banana bread and savoury Thai red curry. Although we actually ended up spending more money on groceries (we were home all the time and I was cooking all the time), I nevertheless called the investment a win for our overall health. And bonus, eating well is good for your skin too!
