Adventures as Big as their Imagination: Disney Infinity 3.0

November 23, 2015 By Lena

A long time ago in a basement far, far away…
DSC_1818aI love this picture. I love pondering what’s going on in my son’s mind – the story line he has created; the world that comes alive purely from his vivid, unadulterated imagination which knows no boundaries. And I love that I can provide him with the toys that encourage this recklessly creative behaviour, because I’m reminded of another visionary who once uttered these now famous words:

“If you can dream it, you can do it.” Oh, Mr. Walt Disney, the things my son can dream.
DSC_1829aIntroducing Disney Infinity 3.0. Continuing to push creative boundaries, Disney Infinity 3.0 gives players endless amounts of freedom and opportunity to create their own stories and play experiences, starring everyone’s Disney favourites. If the first picture didn’t spoil the surprise, I’ll officially share the exciting news: the all-new Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition introduces Star Wars to Disney Infinity, the only game where players can experience characters from Star Wars, Marvel, Disney and Disney•Pixar – all in one place!
DSC_1808aSimply put, when in the Toy Box, this means that Mickey and Minnie can mingle with Han Solo. Iconic characters such as Princess Leia, Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda can play alongside new favourites such as Joy and Anger from Disney•Pixar’s Inside Out. Plus, you can earn the right to play as any Star Wars character by collecting their legacy coins in each Star Wars Play Set.
DSC_1810aSo, what makes Disney Infinity 3.0 a necessary addition to your holiday shopping list? Let me break it down for you.

First, it’s affordable. Designed to be compatible with Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Wii U, let’s be honest – you’ve already made a major upfront investment. The Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition Starter Pack retails for just $74.99 (MSRP) and includes the Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition video game software, two Star Wars figures (Ahsoka Tano and Anakin Skywalker), the 3.0 Edition Base, a Star Wars: Twilight of the Republic Play Set piece and a Web Code card (this unlocks content for PC/mobile). In other words, for a small upfront cost, you’re adding a whole new dimension of entertainment to your video game system.
DSC_1841aAnd, with all characters and Power Discs from 1.0 and 2.0 being compatible with the 3.0 edition, your investment is always a long-term one, with continual added value.

Second, it’s much more than a game.
Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition fosters creativity, builds confidence and encourages children of all ages to dream big. And while I know this sounds like a pretty tall order, think about it: Disney Infinity’s Toy Box gives complete creative freedom and control to the user. Unlike traditional video games, where levels and stages are played according to a pre-determined program, the Toy Box mode opens a limitless world arena that allows players to mix and match characters from different worlds, creating a new adventure every time.
DSC_1858a(Why yes, that *is* Mr. Incredible tossing a droid into the abyss.)

Third, it brings families together. There’s something magical about selecting your favourite Disney character… and then bringing it to life on the screen in front of you. As a mother, it’s interesting to witness which characters my sons relate to most. For Ryder, my 7-year old, he’s attracted to the more dominant personalities of Han Solo, Chewbacca, Anger and Mr. Incredible. On the other hand, Reid, my 5-year old… well, let’s just say that he’s a “Joy” play Disney Infinity 3.0 with.
DSC_1820aThe easy drop-in/ drop-out functionality allows everyone in the family to join in and play together at any time, which means even my husband and I can seamlessly join the action. Of course, *this mom* needs to learn how to keep up with her kids! They can out-manoeuvre me 9 times out of 10.

Choosing a character based on preference allows my sons to discover and interpret their own personalities and strengthens the way they relate to one another as siblings. The vivid world that they create for the characters on-screen is often a reflection of their own quirks and temperaments in real life. When they’re playing, it’s not Mickey and Olaf – it’s my sons’ interpretation of Mickey and Olaf. And that’s where the magic lies.

Of course, when an action-adventure Toy Box can create bonding moments like this –
DSC_1827aI know I’m a Disney Infinity 3.0 fan for life.

This holiday season, Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition is my Top Pick for gift giving! For fans of Star Wars, for diehard and casual gamers, and for kids of all ages, it’s the perfect present to place under the tree! DSC_1854a

we sure didn’t have toys like this when I was growing up and it’s so overwhelming with so much available but I do love that this allows them to use their imagination and be creative unlike so many other video games
