We know it’s the heart of the home; the place everyone naturally gravitates towards to connect with one another. And, we also know that appliances are not the sexiest purchase you’ll ever make.
However, when planning your next kitchen, I just have one question for you:
What do you envision?
Do you love contemporary or classic materials? Will it be airy and open concept, or quaint like a country farm house? Should you opt for crisp, stainless steel appliances, or stick with tried-and-true (and now, trendy) white? And most importantly – will you undertake the renovation yourself, or trust your transformation to a professional?
Whether your next kitchen is months or years away, it’s always important to create a style board. Style boards are a jumping off point; their purpose is to evoke the feeling of the project (color palette, design, layout, etc) and provide inspiration for mixed media. Wondering where to begin? The design experts at Panasonic Cooking’s Your Next Kitchen are here to help!
Design your dream kitchen by selecting your favourite swatches from paint, backsplashes, appliances and more. Here you’ll be able to mix and match colours, textures and finishes to suit your tastes and preferences. Or, you can select a preset style: choose from Contemporary, Eclectic, Modern, Traditional or Asian.
Are you Eclectic?
I must admit, there’s just something about the combination of yellow paint and subway tile that speaks to me. And that’s why I love the preset styles – I can browse through combinations of colours and materials that I may not necessarily come up with myself.
However, if you’ve got an eye for design, why not create your own style board? Here’s what I envision for my next kitchen:
(My husband took one look at my style board and said, “Nope.” I’m starting to understand where the expression “back to the old drawing board” comes from!)
Of course, after you’ve created your very own style board on the Your Next Kitchen website, poke around. I think I would have to say that I am a traditionalist when it comes to the look of my kitchen. Would be fun to make a style board (even though we can’t afford to redo our kitchen right now).
i like ultra modern with clean lines and maximum space. don’t forget lots of lighting.
We just took down a wall to open our small kitchen,I drew the plans for our house but I guess you live and learn.
We need to redo our kitchen, in order to have what I really want I would have to take a wall down and use the dining room area also.
We renovated our kitchen 3 years ago when we bought our house. Will definitely use this for our next reno. So much fun!!
I think this is great.
We’re in the middle of redoing ours; took a break when the nice weather hit to do outdoor projects and will finish the kitchen int he fall.
I like a warm kitchen. some of the modern ones are not comfortable to me. I love the slate backsplash though, and would love granite countertops.
I just love that back splash
What a great idea. I should definitely start a style board. We plan to renovate our kitchen next spring. This year we put in hardwood floors. Love it. We still need to paint but it’s so hard deciding on a colour.
i’m a fan of Panasonic microwaves as well
Mmmm I pictured something with a more open concept, traditional mixed with cozy and modern.
Thank you, will be bookmarking for my upcoming kitchen reno.
I think I have a modern flair! These are great design tips
Nice design tips thanks,i love the faucet
What a beautiful kitchen, such fantastic ideas! Thanks for sharing :o)
Beautiful kitchen. Will be building a home next spring so I’ll need lots of ideas! Thanks for sharing!
I love the stale backsplash,as soon as the holidays are over we have to finish up the kitchen and right down we cant seem to decide on a backsplash
We renovated our kitchen last winter/early spring. I would say it’s a mix of different styles. A little bit country, a little bit modern and few eclectic touches. We also removed our upper cabinets and installed some open shelving.
I’ve been waiting to renovate my kitchen for more than 15 years but other things keep needing done more (furnace, central air conditioning, roof, septic system, hot water heater, garage front deck) I’ve put my foot down now so it’s next on the list.
I would love to build the kitchen of my dreams, hopefully oneday I can!
I love your choices! It looks clean and modern. I love grey so these would be my pick too!
Really nice, tiles make easy clean up. I like stainless steel as it’s pro.
