Hello, April… so nice to meet you. It’s time to sit back, reminisce about the long, cold winter, and look forward to a fabulous new season. And since we’re already more than a week in, how about some of that warmer weather that’s been promised to us?
I know, I know – patience is a virtue. But after that long (really long) winter we just survived, you can’t blame me for wanting to press “fast forward” to summer! However, just before the season arrives, there are few things that we’ll need to do:
1) Spring Cleaning. Ugh! My least favourite part of the reboot. Each spring, I rediscover the same things about myself; I am a hoarder, I am disorganized, and I am particularly lazy when it comes to dusting shutters. Spring cleaning is bad for my self-esteem!
2) Winter Spoils. My stamped concrete driveway is a little worse for wear after road salt from our boots has had its way with the porous material. Similarly, my roof’s shingles have seen better days… perhaps being blanketed with cold snow for five months+ will do that. Taking inventory of the items that need to be refurbished and repaired is necessary to ensure your home stays beautiful (and functional).
3) Summer-Proofing. We’ve waited SO LONG for the warm weather to come… you definitely want to make sure your home is ready for summer. Each spring, in addition to replacing the batteries in your smoke alarms, replacing outdoor bulbs and clearing your gutters, have you ever considered purchasing a Protection and Maintenance Plan for your air conditioner and/or heater? Here’s my story.
I’ve been a home owner for almost 8 years! (And in some ways, that’s downright scary.) However, home ownership has not always been smooth sailing. Like that time we lost hot water… three days after we brought Ryder home from the hospital. Or the time our air conditioner conked off in the middle of a heat wave. And I probably should mention that time our heat just didn’t kick in at the start of the season… forcing us to wear winter coats in our home… in October.
Each time, it cost us a pretty penny to get everything sorted out. Our air conditioner’s refrigerant leak cost hundreds of dollars to repair. And our broken furnace motor? *CRY*. We don’t even talk about it ’round here. The repair that shall not be named.
Think it can’t happen to you? Yeah, me too. Until I had to sacrifice a Marc Jacobs handbag for cool air.

We are in full Spring cleaning mode … and life cleaning up mode too. Full reboot coming your way soon LOL
Spring cleaning is almost done here, just need to now find SPRING! Sounds like a good plan through Reliance. We are in a highrise condo so it wouldn’t help us but if you have a house it sounds like it might be worth looking into.
I have two rooms done thats it. but I clean everyday so only thing I do diff with spring is I clean out cupboards too.
We’ve had decent weather on the west coast for some time so its outdoor ‘spring cleaning’ time for us. The lawn got its first mow of the season, organizing my planters and baskets etc. When it warms up a bit more we’ll work on the outside of the house – cause I hate being out in below 20C weather lol!
I’m ready for the warm weather bring it on, I need to get these windows opened to get this house aired out!!
Spring is my favourite season, I cannot wait until the warm weather.
Hey, look on the bright side, at least your roof had snow on it. That means that you have good insulation.
The moment the weather starts to warm up, you start seeing how people are acting happier :)
It still doesn’t feel like Spring here. So depressing BUT I know it’s coming soon. Can’t wait to hit the park with my boys.
I can’t wait to go for my walks and the weather looks very promising next week which makes me happy. Hubby will have to schedule sometime to clean up the garden and spread the weed killer soon before the weeds germinate.
haven’t started spring cleaning… with 3 age 5 and under, including a NB… i’m just trying to keep up with regular cleaning!
Today, it finally felt like Spring! Weeeeee!!!
This spring we’ll be doing more cleaning than we ever have within the 20 years we’ve lived here. Redoing the basement for baby bro!!!
I love Reliance Home Comfort, always great service, it’s the best solution! I finished my spring cleaning, it’s one of my goals before Easter. Now I’m focusing on gardening. I love to create my own little oasis, paradise around my home. It’s lots of work and patience but it’s rewarding.
ugh spring cleaning…. still putting it off… will get around to cleaning like crazy soon…I hope :P
We have been spring cleaning like crazy around here.. purging, bagging up items for donations, dusting things we haven’t cleaned in ages. It will feel amazing when we’re all done.. it gives you a sense of relief & calm.
I need a reboot to get my spring cleaning done!
That sounds like a good protection plan. I would definitely be grateful to have a plan in place if something were to break down in the future.
Spring cleaning is just about done here…..come on Mother Nature bring some sun my way
I just read my last post here and Spring had just arrives, omg where does the time go its almost Halloween again….if only would go just as fast i would welcome spring cleaning

I’m going into fall right now but I wish I could be starting spring cleaning because I hate winter but we always get our furnace and air conditioner checked
I guess that is the one advantage of Renter instead of Owning your home.
I’m trying to work up the courage to get a jump on my spring cleaning but oh my I don’t want to!
Wish we were entering Spring and not Fall, but it`s here and i have already started on my Fall cleaning .
