Your Spring Reboot

April 9, 2015 By Lena

Hello, April… so nice to meet you. It’s time to sit back, reminisce about the long, cold winter, and look forward to a fabulous new season. And since we’re already more than a week in, how about some of that warmer weather that’s been promised to us?
promo-april15-homepagesI know, I know – patience is a virtue. But after that long (really long) winter we just survived, you can’t blame me for wanting to press “fast forward” to summer! However, just before the season arrives, there are few things that we’ll need to do:

1) Spring Cleaning. Ugh! My least favourite part of the reboot. Each spring, I rediscover the same things about myself; I am a hoarder, I am disorganized, and I am particularly lazy when it comes to dusting shutters. Spring cleaning is bad for my self-esteem!

2) Winter Spoils. My stamped concrete driveway is a little worse for wear after road salt from our boots has had its way with the porous material. Similarly, my roof’s shingles have seen better days… perhaps being blanketed with cold snow for five months+ will do that. Taking inventory of the items that need to be refurbished and repaired is necessary to ensure your home stays beautiful (and functional).

3) Summer-Proofing. We’ve waited SO LONG for the warm weather to come… you definitely want to make sure your home is ready for summer. Each spring, in addition to replacing the batteries in your smoke alarms, replacing outdoor bulbs and clearing your gutters, have you ever considered purchasing a Protection and Maintenance Plan for your air conditioner and/or heater? Here’s my story.

I’ve been a home owner for almost 8 years! (And in some ways, that’s downright scary.) However, home ownership has not always been smooth sailing. Like that time we lost hot water… three days after we brought Ryder home from the hospital. Or the time our air conditioner conked off in the middle of a heat wave. And I probably should mention that time our heat just didn’t kick in at the start of the season… forcing us to wear winter coats in our home… in October.

Each time, it cost us a pretty penny to get everything sorted out. Our air conditioner’s refrigerant leak cost hundreds of dollars to repair. And our broken furnace motor? *CRY*. We don’t even talk about it ’round here. The repair that shall not be named.

Think it can’t happen to you? Yeah, me too. Until I had to sacrifice a Marc Jacobs handbag for cool air.

You’ve likely heard of Reliance Home Comfort, the leading provider of heating, cooling and water heater solutions to Canadian homeowners. Reliance is the first choice for Canadians because they always have the right home comfort solution, regardless of size of home – or budget. With a wide selection of quality brand name products, furnace and air conditioner service plans to protect you against unexpected repair costs, a large network of technical experts, 24 hour telephone support, and a variety of payment options, dealing with Reliance Home Comfort is FAST, EASY and AFFORDABLE.
promo-april15-comfortplansThey also have a sweet promotion happening right now, perfect for your Spring Reboot! For a limited time, get 50% off for 3 months on select protection plans. All that at an affordable price, so you can sleep easy.

I encourage you all to take a look at Reliance’s Protection and Maintenance Plans! It’s a must for anyone who has an older model heater or air conditioner… or has been stuck with a few lemons, like me! Spring cleaning is almost done here, just need to now find SPRING! Sounds like a good plan through Reliance. We are in a highrise condo so it wouldn’t help us but if you have a house it sounds like it might be worth looking into.

We’ve had decent weather on the west coast for some time so its outdoor ‘spring cleaning’ time for us. The lawn got its first mow of the season, organizing my planters and baskets etc. When it warms up a bit more we’ll work on the outside of the house – cause I hate being out in below 20C weather lol!

Hey, look on the bright side, at least your roof had snow on it. That means that you have good insulation.

It still doesn’t feel like Spring here. So depressing BUT I know it’s coming soon. Can’t wait to hit the park with my boys.

I can’t wait to go for my walks and the weather looks very promising next week which makes me happy. Hubby will have to schedule sometime to clean up the garden and spread the weed killer soon before the weeds germinate.

I love Reliance Home Comfort, always great service, it’s the best solution! I finished my spring cleaning, it’s one of my goals before Easter. Now I’m focusing on gardening. I love to create my own little oasis, paradise around my home. It’s lots of work and patience but it’s rewarding.

That sounds like a good protection plan. I would definitely be grateful to have a plan in place if something were to break down in the future.
