Get the Look: Positively Radiant

January 13, 2015 By Lena

Happy Tuesday! Today I’m obsessed with perfect skin… most notably, Jennifer Aniston’s at the Golden Globes on Sunday night. Now, I’ve made it no secret that I adore everything she’s got going on; from her shiny tresses and glowing skin to her perfectly toned body, she is a walking goddess.

(Fitting, since her ancestors are Greek.)

Well, I just happen to have the inside scoop on how to get her look! Jen’s make-up artist, Angela Levin, dished on exactly what she used to create her glowing skin, dramatic eyes and pretty, neutral lips. Below, find a step-by-step guide!

jennider aniston“One of the most important parts of make-up application on a day like the Golden Globes is longevity – it has to last all the way from the red carpet to the event and throughout the after parties. I started by hydrating Jennifer’s face and neck with AVEENO POSITIVELY RADIANT Daily Moisturizer SPF 15, and to accentuate her glowing arms and shoulders, I used AVEENO Daily Moisturizing Lotion.”

Okay ladies, this is Beauty 101. Finding a quality moisturizer is an essential part of healthy-looking skin, and I love that Jennifer keeps it simple with Aveeno’s daily moisturizers.

(If you skip down a few posts, you’ll see that Aveeno Skin Relief Moisturizing Lotion is my go-to for dry, winter skin.)

Alright, Angela, what’s next?

“I proceeded by applying 3 CHANEL Perfection Lumiere Velvet colors – 40 Beige as the foundation, 70 Beige for shading and 22 Beige Rose as a highlight. With the darkest color I framed her face blending it onto the neck, then also painting the low jaw line. I applied a thin layer of 40 Beige all over, fading it into the 70 Beige while using the 22 Beige Rose on and around the eyes, bridge of the nose, chin and cheek bone with a minimal amount of powder to set.”

Er, I appreciate the tutorial, Angela – especially since I’ve long wondered about the secret to Jennifer’s ultra glowing complexion – but an application of three different foundations is slightly out of my comfort zone. Not to mention, I have exactly 16 seconds to apply foundation on any given morning. Sigh.

“With a fan brush I applied CHANEL Cream Blush in Destiny to shape the cheek and Intonation, a much brighter color, on the apple of her cheeks. After applying a minimal amount of CHANEL Les Beiges Bronzer in 70 with a big brush all over her face and neck I used Soleil Tan De CHANEL in Sunkissed with my fingers on the outer corner of her eyes and cheek bones for a sunny glow.”

Success! I can totally do this. And I love, love the suggestion of mixing bronzer with blush; I normally choose one or the other. (Not sure why I do that?)

“For her eyes I used the two medium colors of CHANEL Tisse Mademoiselle on the eye lids. The dark color in the compact was used as a base for the crease and outer corners while the lighter color was applied under her brow in the higher area. I also used the darkest color of CHANEL Tisse Vendome Compact for the crease. I continued using a thin line of black liquid mascara on the top lash line and extended it a little bit on the outer corners. I then used three layers of Black CHANEL Inimitable Intense Mascara.”

I think the key takeaway from the above explanation is this: there is no such thing as too much mascara. Jennifer’s eyes absolutely, positively POP! I love that her eye makeup is smoky without being overdone, so even on the red carpet, she exudes fresh-faced beauty.

“To finish the look I used CHANEL Mordore Nude 05 Lip Liner to shape the lip, feathering it on to the lips to create a base. I then used CHANEL Rouge Coco Shine in Deauville for her lipstick and #297 Glossimer to create a gorgeous creamy beige lip.”

Great news! Anyone can recreate this look, as you simply need a neutral pink or nude lipstick with an overlay of a creamy beige lip gloss. Day to night perfect!

As always, special thanks to Angela Levin for sharing her makeup artistry tips and techniques!

I like using aveeno positively radiant moisturizer spf 15 too. I often just use this with a touch of foundation, mascara and lip gloss. It’s fast and I feel makes me look naturally pretty. If I tried the above steps I would feel like a million bucks, love the look too

Three foundations is too much work for me too, I love the look but unlike Aniston don’t have the time (or three colours of the same foundation)

Jennifer Anniston is beautiful. It helps too that she has someone to do her make-up and hair styling.

Jen does have flawless skin on her face and body. I’ve always had clear skin luckily but I’ve never had flawless skin but I’d love to try to look half as good as Jennifer.
