Take a look around. Spring is officially on its way out, and we’re making way for warmer weather, longer days and starry nights. So… did you finish your spring cleaning?
I say forget about it. I mean, is there *really* an advantage to completely disrupting your entire household… when you know it’s just going to get messy again anyways? Come on, I have two school aged boys. They have literally made it their mission to turn my house into a combat zone – complete with mine traps (errant diecast cars), artillery (any toy longer than 12 inches) and water torture (the bathroom after a bath).
UGH! I have two choices: spend my life cleaning… or learn how to spot clean.
Spot cleaning is the equivalent of cramming for a final exam – appearing like you have sh*t together, when really, you attempt to fake a season’s worth of work (or in this case, cleaning) into one intense session. But you know what? It works nine times out of ten if you have the right tools.
Introducing the Dyson Digital Slim DC62 cordless vacuum cleaner.
Simply stated, it is the most powerful cordless vacuum on the market, made possible by a combination of the Dyson digital motor V6, 2 Tier Radial cyclones and a re-engineered nickel manganese cobalt battery. Translation: it sucks up as much dust as a corded vacuum, without the bulk or inconvenience.
Now we all know that normally, Lena + Cleaning = Avoidance. However, I’m proud to say that the Dyson DC62 has revolutionized my viewpoint on the subject. Think about it: having a powerful, light and easy-to-manoeuvre vacuum at your disposal makes even the most arduous tasks seem like a piece of cake. A re-engineered floor tool with stiff nylon bristles dislodge ground-in dirt from carpets, while anti-static soft carbon fibre filaments gently remove fine dust from hard floors. And because the DC62’s centre of gravity is located near the grip, the unit is very easy to lift. This means that the top of your fridge, ceiling corners and the spaces between stair spindles will finally see some love.
All DC62 Vacuums Have:
Extra tools: All Dyson vacuums come with Dyson-engineered tools for cleaning hard to reach places.
Hygienic bin emptying: Just push the button to release the dirt. No more bags!
Convenient docking station: Stores and charges the machine, and holds additional attachments.
Boost mode: 6 minutes of increased suction power – for more difficult tasks. (We call it “Beast Mode”)
26 minutes of cleaning time: A re-engineered nickel manganese cobalt battery and run-time enhancing trigger.
2 year warranty: All Dyson cordless vacuums come with a 2 year warranty – parts and labour.
But if I had to single out the most important feature of the Dyson DC62, it’s that it excels at SCCA (Spot Cleaning: Crisis Aversion). That’s right – for every woman out there who is not quite Suzy Homemaker, here’s how to “cram” with the Dyson Digital Slim DC62.
Crisis #1: A Visit from the Mother-in-Law
From biblical times, there exists one truth about the mother-in-law: she will find wobbly, shabby, dusty, unkempt and soiled areas of your home… and make a judgement about them. Often, it won’t even be with words, but rather a longer-than-comfortable glance in the direction of the windows you know you should have washed 6 years months ago; a flick of a finger across your dust-encrusted baseboards; a slightly disapproving gaze in your husband’s direction, which seems to convey, “Sure, she’s a looker, but her housekeeping skills are next to naught.”
Spot Cleaning 101: Use the Dyson DC62 to quickly clean in spaces you never actually think of, but know your MIL will spot with her peripheral vision. The light, convenient unit can be lifted with ease and gets into high and awkward areas, like you corner fireplace mantle. Dust bunnies be gone! Crisis Averted.
Crisis #2: The Furniture Movers
They’re *supposed* to put those shower-cap thingies on their feet, to prevent mucking up your entire home. Alas, you and I both know they don’t always come prepared- or maybe they take one look at your dark-coloured hardwood floors and think, “This looks like a good place for me to disperse a few dusty footprints.” Whatever their motivation, you have three options: 1) Glare at the 265-lb former nightclub bouncer and ask him to remove his shoes, 2) Make a big show of rolling out your ancient bagged, corded vacuum cleaner while he’s hauling your new washing machine up your winding staircase, or 3) Grin and bear it, tip him ten bucks and then whip our your Dyson DC62 as soon as he leaves. I say go for option three.
Spot Cleaning 101: The Dyson DC62 tackles stairs effortlessly, scooping up every last piece of dust and debris. Switch to the crevice tool to get every nook and in between stair spindles. Take that furniture dude! Crisis Averted.
Crisis #3: The Crushed Cheerio
Or Froot Loop. Or Honey Oat. Or any other circular cereal product that always makes its way out of the cereal bowl and then invariably gets crushed. Into the grooves of your brand new table. No biggie.
I think I’ve actually uttered the words that crushed cereal is the bane of my existence. It’s messy, can get sticky, and its traces are seen long after breakfast is over. And when it finds its way into the crevices of furniture – let’s just say that it will be with you for a long time. Maybe for good.
Spot Cleaning 101: A simple damp paper towel can whisk away most of life’s little messes, but in the case of crushed cereal, you really do need to bring in the expert. Whether you use the crevice tool or combination tool, the Dyson DC62 will annihilate every crumb, leaving behind a flawlessly clean surface. Nemesis no more! Crisis Averted.
So, are you a spring cleaner or a spot cleaner? Why Dyson is right for you –
All Dyson handheld vacuums are guaranteed for 2 years – parts and labour. They are made from ABS polycarbonate (the same material used in riot shields and crash helmets). Translation: Every single component is relentlessly tested to survive real life. Dyson has been continually refining vacuum cyclone technology since inventing it more than 20 years ago: No bag. No loss of suction. And Dyson vacuums have permanent filters – so there are no extra costs.
The Dyson Digital Slim DC62 retails for $549.99 and can be purchased at Walmart, Future Shop, Sears, The Brick, or at www.dysonscanada.ca.
