Normally, I’d never say, “If Rihanna does it, I’m so down”… you know, nipple piercings and all… but in the case of the distressed denim pencil skirt, I am absolutely taking a page from her book. This spring, freshen up your wardrobe with a denim skirt; the perfect 9-5 number that transitions seamlessly into night. Whether you do designer or cheap chic, to maximize the look, grab a skirt that sits at (or slightly above) your knees.
1. American Eagle, $21.79; 2. Zara, $24.00; 3. GAP, $49.99 (sale price)
4. Marc by Marc Jacobs, $275; 5. TopShop, $59.00; 6. Current/Elliott, $240
I’ve tried the GAP skirt in-store and it’s likely to become a staple in my wardrobe this summer – especially since it’s currently on sale for $49.99! The last time I owned a denim pencil skirt was 1988… kind of wish I still had it now!
I’m all for number 5. Still can’t wrap my head around the “destructed” look.
It’s an acquired taste for sure :)
I like #4….sure and I’d pick the most expensive one.
I like pencil skirts and denim is great when you have little kids. It doesn’t stain.
True! And it’s a step up from plain old jeans, so win-win!
I have always loved denim skirts, but this body of mine don’t like them, I love #4 and #6, if I looked as good as you or Rihanna I would totally be rocking the denim skirt!!
I still haven’t found the perfect one – I’ve founds ones I like, and ones that look nice, but not Rihanna-style epic :)
They are all great but I am afraid I don’t have the right body to pull the look off.
Trust me, I’m not sure I do either :) But it’s all about confidence!
I love distressed denim but my age and body say no lol
LOL this look is definitely age-appropriate for a smaller audience :)
I hate paying money for clothes that have holes in them
Now THAT’s an interesting way to look at it!
I’d go with #5 :)
I love #1 but I am SO past the mini-skirt phase of life LOL – maybe for my oldest granddaughter (although both her dad and step-dad would have a fit) ;)
Hahaha maybe she can wait?
Oh my that brings back memories of owning a jeans skirt. I have not had one in my closet for years now. You convinced me to go shopping at GAP, I want one now :) I also like #5, so classy.
I’m so glad to provide you with some style inspiration!
I don’t know if I will be participating in this trend, but Rihanna can pull it off!
She sure can :)
I love the marc jacobs skirt, super cute
It’s my fave too!
Love this! I also had a jean wrap skirt from the Gap back in 1997… And I freggin’ loved it.
Ha! Love that you loved it!
I really like this look, I like #3 or #6.. You could totally rock the denim skirt.
Ah, thanks for the vote of confidence!
they are so cute!
I agree Jennifer!
I personally like no. 5. I haven’t gotten into the destructed look as yet.
It needs to grow on you :)
Such cute skirts
I agree Jaime!
Super cute! I actually haven’t seen them in stores too much (or rather, I wasn’t looking for them). Will definitely keep my eye out for one. Love the lighter colours.

Yes, I think the lighter colours definitely convey the right look!
these are cute – i like #1 the best!
Good choice!
I’ve had this 1 denim skirt for like forever, I love it. Now if I can just find another one to replace it with.
The great thing is they never go out of style!
Don’t like the distressed look at all. To me it just looks messy. Number 5 would be my pick.
I like them both, and #5 is fab!
I am loving #2!
Great pick!
i like #5
I like your style!
Oooooh love this trend! The Current/Elliott one is my fave :)
It’s so cute!
I’m not sure that I ever cared for that look.
Ha! You’re a dude!
I would rock #5! Love it!
YES you would!!
I love number 6, Ri Ri makes everything look amazing!
Doesn’t she?
love denim skirts no longer have the legs to wear them
Not true! Choose an under the knee length!
I am having flashbacks from the 80’s.
We all are :)
I love demin, for me it never goes out of style
I don’t have the right hips to pull the look off,but im sure its looks great on you
I love denim whether jeans or a skirt but I still don’t get the whole distressed look because I’m someone that likes to buy clothes that don’t have holes until I’ve worn them for many years and the holes are from history. I like the #5 skirt and that should be no surprise.
