The Magic of Play: Disney Junior and LEGO DUPLO

March 15, 2014 By Lena

Could there be a better combination for tiny tots? The magic of Disney Junior plus the fun of LEGO DUPLO? Oh my, it’s a match made in playtime heaven!

Introducing the Magic of Play tour! Disney Junior and LEGO DUPLO are hitting the road together with fun filled, FREE indoor events in 5 cities across Canada. Children can build and discover the many ways to play with LEGO DUPLO bricks while they watch and enjoy their favourite Disney Junior shows! Plus, all kiddos who stop by will take home a special Magic of Play activity booklet, which is chock full of learning fun. The best part: it’s all totally free!

My little guys had a chance to check out the tour when it hit Fairview Mall in Toronto, ON. In addition to the bright and colourful stations featuring popular LEGO DUPLO play sets, there were several play agents on hand to help them create, build and be inspired. We arrived just before the mall opened to the public as part of the media preview, so there were a *few* cameras on hand, recording the boys as they played. Lucky for Ryder, he loves to give interviews!

Reid delighted in creating the tallest, most delicious ice cream cone ever, while Ryder was challenged with the task of building a castle fit for a princess. Good thing there was tons of Sophia the First imagery to keep him on task! Remember: match made in playtime heaven!

Favourite moment of the day: When Reid found his very favourite Disney Pixar Plane – El Chupacabra. He flew him around the play area until my husband gently suggested that perhaps the plane had run out of fuel. So what did Reid do? He built a fueling station, of course… complete with gas pump!

However, the gold star for LEGO DUPLO castle building goes to Ryder, who constructed the perfect abode for his lady in waiting, Way to go little guy! Maybe we have a budding architect on our hands?

Want to get in on the fun? The Magic of Play tour will be visiting the following malls over the next few weeks:

March 15, 16 Surrey, British Columbia Guildford Town Centre • March 22, 23 Vancouver, British Columbia Oakridge Centre • March 29, 30 Calgary, Alberta Chinook Centre • April 5, 6 Edmonton, Alberta Southgate Centre • April 12, 13 Markham, Ontario Markville Mall

Be sure to arrive early so you don’t miss out on the fun. All events will follow each malls’ hours for the entire day.

Oh Lynda I completely understand! I suppose it’s due to the large setup that they stick to the more mainstream malls. But yes, the boys didn’t want to leave :)

Lego has to be one of the best construction toys out there. They encourage imagination and hours of play.

Lego (and Duplo) is great for all ages !! Yes, even I have been caught building things with my grandkids LOL Hopefully my youngest grandkids will get the Lego/Duplo bug (my daughter and son-in-law have a TON of Lego in a container just waiting for them to be old enough) :)

We were at Fairview Mall during March break and stopped by the Lego store. My girls had a blast playing with the pieces until mommy spoiled the fun and said lets go. It was actually packed with little kids on March break. Reid is a hoot and a half. I am still chuckling at him building a fuel station after your husband’s suggestion.

Dates should be confirmed on all sites. I’ve been given different info on dates for Surrey BC. It’s either March 15-16 or March 21-22. This is very frustrating
