Show of Hands: YAY-con or NAY-con for Bacon?

March 8, 2014 By Lena

Introducing the ‘Piggylicious’ Bacon Cupcake with Maple Frosting and Pretzel Crunch, available at the 2014 Epcot Flower and Garden Festival at Walt Disney World.

I’m saying yes… although I’m trying to reconcile the taste sensation between the creamy maple frosting and the salty bacon bits. What do you think? And more importantly, who’s heading to Epcot soon? Be sure to try one of these bad boys and let us know! The 2014 Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival runs through May 18, 2014.

I love bacon and it has a lot of possible uses. (my favorite being bacon wrapped scallops.) but for this i have to say nay-con it sounds disgusting.

      March 10, 2014 at 10:47 am

LOL tell me how you really feel Francine! I do love bacon-wrapped scallops – haven’t had them in a long time!

I have to try it first before I give a yay or nay. I might be pleasantly surprised or my gag reflex might kick in. I swing around your place about 1? lol knock knock

      March 10, 2014 at 10:48 am

LOL I WISH I had some on hand – may have to bake some up!

I would to have to say Nay to this. I love bacon but not in sweet dishes.

    • Lena

      March 10, 2014 at 10:48 am

Hmm… have you ever tried dipping bacon in maple syrup? I actually love it!

  5. Marissa

    March 8, 2014 at 2:44 pm

    It’s definitely a nay-con for me as I don’t eat bacon.

    • Lena

      March 10, 2014 at 10:49 am

      Well that solves that! Hahaha

  6. Lynda Cook

    March 8, 2014 at 3:37 pm

I would have to say yay, if they taste as good as my maple bacon cookies these are going to be divine!!

    • Lena

      March 10, 2014 at 10:49 am

Where are these Maple Bacon cookies you speak of??

  7. Flora M

    March 8, 2014 at 4:46 pm

If it were a cornmeal muffin less all the icing (substitute a drizzle of maple syrup – the real stuff) I would say yay-con, otherwise no. I’m sweet enough LOL

    • Lena

      March 10, 2014 at 10:50 am

      Oooh… that actually sounds divine!

  8. Victoria Ess

    March 8, 2014 at 5:13 pm

I think I’m on the ‘nay’ side — I don’t like bacon to begin with!

    • Lena

      March 10, 2014 at 10:50 am

You don’t? Oh no, I’m not sure we can be friends anymore Victoria! LOL

I dont know. I guess I would have to try this recipe before deciding. Im okay with bacon, but im not a bacon addict.

    • Lena

      March 10, 2014 at 10:51 am

I think it’s a good thing that you’re not a bacon addict – too much is not good for the ol’ ticker!

    March 8, 2014 at 6:55 pm

WOW! That looks too good to be true!!

    • Lena

      March 10, 2014 at 10:52 am

Cici, you are officially the first 100% without-a-doubt YAY-con. So interesting – I thought there would be more fans!

Why do brands choose the most unhealthy food to promote themselves? Good, healthy food sells as well ! On one side, people are becoming more and more health conscious these days with rising health care and insurance costs. On the other side, brands encourage people to eat unhealthy food. This is a sad reality we live in.

    • jaimeem

      March 9, 2014 at 8:50 pm

They promote what is popular. Unfortunately, you probably won’t be seeing ‘broccoli cupcakes’ promoted by big brands anytime soon. On another note, it may be unhealthy, but in moderation there is nothing wrong with it!

      • Lena

        March 10, 2014 at 10:56 am

I agree with you Jaime. Epcot celebrates delicious foods from around the world – mostly fresh, healthy options – and the Bacon Cupcake just happens to be one of the featured items for the Flower and Garden festival, but certainly not the only item. Everything in moderation!

And Misty, kudos to you for living a healthy lifestyle, even when faced with tempting brand advertising. Good, healthy foods are always the right choice to make most of the time!

  13. Heidi C.

    March 8, 2014 at 10:21 pm

I have to go with nay. This sounds too rich for me :).

    • Lena

      March 10, 2014 at 10:56 am

I’m wondering what the frosting tastes like… rich for sure, but maybe balances the saltiness out perfectly?

  14. Darrah Bailey

    March 9, 2014 at 12:00 am

Yay!! YUM, Id try it :)

    • Lena

      March 10, 2014 at 10:57 am

  17. Chandra Christine O'Connor

    March 9, 2014 at 9:19 am

I think it would be yummy if it was corn bread and bacon

    • Lena

      March 10, 2014 at 11:01 am

By the looks of the cupcake I’m wondering if it could be,,, that would certainly make sense!

  18. Christy Martin

    March 9, 2014 at 9:48 am

As disgusting as this combo sounds. I am sure, it would become addictive. This would actually be fun to try as a dessert for the next family gathering. I am not a huge bacon fan, but love the smell of it and sometimes as a topping. My 3 brothers, wives & kids are the opposite.

    • Lena

      March 10, 2014 at 11:02 am

I think the whole salty-sweetness of it would definitely make it addictive :)

  19. Leslie

    March 9, 2014 at 12:13 pm

This should be at the Canada pavilion at Epcot – it does not get more Canadian than maple and bacon!

    • Lena

      March 10, 2014 at 11:02 am

You’re absolutely right Leslie – I never thought about it that way!!

  20. Melinda L.

    March 9, 2014 at 5:43 pm

    It’s bacon…always YAY!!

    • Lena

      March 10, 2014 at 11:02 am

YAY! Thanks for weighing in Melinda!

  21. Flora M

    March 10, 2014 at 1:55 pm

Now that I have looked at the picture a little more closely, it does look like that is a cornmeal “cupcake” – but still, ditch the frosting for me ;) LOL

    • Lena

      March 10, 2014 at 3:10 pm

I love your suggestion of drizzling maple syrup!

  22. Rick F

    March 11, 2014 at 6:31 pm

They look like cornmuffins with red peppers & bacon. Hmmm.

    • Lena

      March 16, 2014 at 4:22 pm

Hmm… that would be rather delicious!

  23. sarah sar

    March 12, 2014 at 1:46 am

    • Lena

  24. Stephanie LaPlante

    March 14, 2014 at 8:44 am

Nay. No offense people but I think this bacon craze is disgusting. lol

    • Lena

      March 16, 2014 at 4:23 pm

LOL! It’s good to have an opinion!

  25. Cassie Fancy

    March 15, 2014 at 9:23 pm

I have to say nay . There is such thing as too much bacon in my opinion . lol

    • Lena

      March 16, 2014 at 4:23 pm

  28. Susan T.

    April 20, 2014 at 3:39 pm

I’m not big on anything sweet, but if you put bacon in it I can be convinced to give it a try!

  29. Anne Taylor

    June 19, 2014 at 1:17 pm

Yay Yay Yay for me! lol I adore bacon and I could see myself enjoying this, but my favourite way to enjoy bacon is bacon wrapped peaches grilled on the bbq!

    June 28, 2018 at 2:44 am

I love bacon but I wish I didn’t and what I really would love is if I could be a vegetarian or vegan because I love animals
