Secret to a Successful Marriage? The #SwifferEffect

March 17, 2014 By Lena

I should probably write a book. Or at the very least, submit my story to those seeking relationship counselling. Because friends, gather ’round: I have found the secret to a successful marriage.

I know what you’re thinking… communication, friendship and companionship, right? Of course. Of course those are important attributes of any fulfilling relationship. And for better or worse, richer or poorer… I married the man of my dreams. He’s smart, he’s charming, and he knows his way around the kitchen just as he knows the way to my heart.

But that’s not why I hang on to him.

My man has something I’ll be hard-pressed to find in another potential mate. Until now, I’ve kept his special skills a secret from the world. Because truthfully, I fear women everywhere will try to steal him away. And before you start to speculate, I’ll just come clean: no, he doesn’t send me romantic texts – or leave doting messages written in raspberries. And – shockingly – he doesn’t whip out an acoustic guitar, serenading me with words of love. But he does have the one thing that keeps me coming back for more – he has the #SwifferEffect.

Yes, ladies, my man does all the cleaning. And when he cleans, he only trusts Swiffer.

By day, he’s a successful business executive. He likes high definition smartphones and a high definition clean. Swiffer Dusters pick up dust and lock it away with thousands of flexible fluffy fibres. Lightly coated with Dust Lock Adhesive, these fibres change shape to reach into nooks and crannies, trapping up to 2x more dust than a dust cloth.

Conference call at 3pm? No problem. He’s on it like dust on shutters. Now THIS is what you call multi-tasking 101.

A nanny? Pfft. My husband is on child duty and Steamboost duty. The Swiffer BISSELL SteamBoost is a steam mop that deeply penetrates dirt and helps remove messes mops can leave behind. Fill it with water, attach a Steam Pad and plug it in. No other cleaning solutions are needed – which is a good thing, because often, my husband has his hands full with our toddler.

Says the husband: “I am amazed by the Swiffer BISSELL SteamBoost. It has made me fall in love with our hardwood floors again! After a day of play, the floors are caked with water stains, Play Doh, mystery dirt and more. The special Steam Pads have a steam-activated, dirt-dissolving cleaning solution that pulls dirt from surfaces and locks it away. It almost makes cleaning fun!”

What did I tell you ladies? Better than a love song.

Of course, I love a man who takes care of himself, so it’s no surprise that I snagged a metrosexual mate. Fixing his hair in the mirror? That’s expected. Fixing his hair while dusting the mirror? Now that’s HOT.

Hubby has also been known to dabble in Swiffer 360° Dusters. They have thousands of deep-cleaning fibres that help reduce allergens, and are designed specifically to clean dirt in grooves and crevices. Today, however, he opted for his trusted ol’ blue – his tried and true cleaning companion.

So there you have it: the secret to a successful marriage is finding a man with the #SwifferEffect. A lean, mean, cleaning machine… be still my heart! Click here to visit Swiffer.

I am a #PGMom. I received Swiffer products in exchange for my review. Of course, we both know I handed the products over to my husband. The opinions on this blog are his, obvi.

They seriously need to make this into an ad campaign…the #swiffereffect is much stronger than the #axeeffect (ever seen those deo ads?)…we’d definitely swoon more over a swiffer man than for any headache-inducing deodorant :-)

    • Lena

      March 18, 2014 at 8:13 am

LMAO! Love it – and yes I’ve seen the Axe ads… I agree, I’d rather have a man that cleans ANY day!

LOL well to be fair my husband’s socks don’t always make it to the clothes hamper either… but as long as he does the laundry, I don’t hold it against him!

Lena. I have a similar post sitting in drafts about my housekeeping man and the Swiffer 360 LOL. When you find a man who has the #SwifferEffect I totally agree it is hard to expose because it may send some women into jealous mode, LOL

Well the question is how much in royalties Swiffer is going to pay you when they make a commercial about the Swiffer Effect! Best post I’ve read (and I read a lot of blogs so I’ve had to read a lot of Swiffer reviews)

    • Lena

      March 18, 2014 at 8:16 am

Ha! I’ll be sure to blog about it if they do! Thanks Jolee!

    • Lena

      March 18, 2014 at 8:18 am

Nice! There’s something very sexy about a man who pushes a mean vacuum!

My husband takes the vacuum out every now and than. He does most of the dishes. Dishwasher only gets used when we have company. That Swiffer for dusting. I wonder if he would use it if I purchased it. Great photos and your husband is a great sport for letting you take the pictures.

    • Lena

      March 18, 2014 at 5:41 pm

Sounds like your husband has a bit of the #SwifferEffect too… now you just need to get one in his hands!

  22. Julia

    March 18, 2014 at 12:29 pm

LOL Think he could teach my man to dust? Good thing I am teaching my kids young that dusting is fun if you Swifferize it.

    • Lena

      March 18, 2014 at 5:41 pm

I think Swiffer has revolutionized the way we dust! Has definitely made it more fun!

  23. NT

    March 18, 2014 at 12:35 pm

Ha ha. Great post Lena. And I can see your hubby doesn’t mind posing for pictures either :)
He does ALL the cleaning? I need to know how his mother raised him so I can do the same for my lazy boys.

    • Lena

      March 18, 2014 at 5:42 pm

Hahaha yes, he does all the cleaning. But he LIKES it! I have two lazy boys whom I shout after every single day :(

    March 18, 2014 at 1:04 pm

    LOL! Too funny.
Truth be told though my husband does almost all the cleaning and at least 1/2 the cooking and it’s absolutely wonderful… makes me love and appreciate him all the more!

    • Lena

      March 18, 2014 at 5:42 pm

    March 18, 2014 at 2:18 pm

    Wish I had a “swiffer-man” LOL ! Too funny :)
I do use the swiffer dusters and wet-jet and love them !
I have a steamer of *another brand* that I bought long before Swiffer came out with theirs. When my steamer gives up on me, I will probably opt for the Swiffer-Bissell one.

    • Lena

      March 18, 2014 at 5:43 pm

Please do Flora! We’ve gone through about 4 different steam mops and my husband swears by the Swiffer BISSELL SteamBoost.
