Over 80 Years of Oscars Fashion

February 28, 2014 By Lena

Last week, I was a bit turned off when US Magazine wrote an article outlining the contents of the Oscars Swag Bag… for losers. In fact, it’s safe to say we are all a little peeved at the sheer wastefulness (is that a word?) and social irresponsibility of the sponsoring companies.

This week, in anticipation of the big show on Sunday, I have something a little more lighthearted to share: from Cosmopolitan UK, “Every Best Actress Oscars Dress Since 1929”. The lovely little infographic, created by the digital geniuses at mediarundigital.co.uk, has been making its rounds on Facebook and Twitter, but I just had to post it here as well. Take a peek! And if you’re tuning into the Academy Awards this weekend, don’t forget to join our #EpsonRedCarpet Twitter Party at 7:00pm EST, where you know we’ll be chatting about Oscar-night fashion!

Yep, wastefulness is a word (although I thought quite a few other “more colourful” words when I was reading that swag bag article LOL).
Love the dress parade – noticed a couple of “off the rack” dresses in there – good for them ! Also interesting to see the list of the actresses that didn’t attend…. now I am going to have to go and find out why LOL !!

I watched the Oscars last night and was pleasantly amazed at the lack of outrageous dresses this year ! Well, except for Ellen’s “Glinda” imitation LOL She was a hoot !

my favorite is the 2003 dress. the drawing makes the 2013 look like a wedding dress. I hated the 1948 dress. not a fan of green and its very bulky too.

It’s amazing to look at the fashions from so many years and it’s also amazing how in the beginning they didn’t go all out but instead just wore pretty dresses not gowns and jewels etc
