Oh the Weather Outside is Frightful…

November 28, 2013 By Lena

… But the fire is so delightful!

Little by little, #ProjectManCave is becoming a reality. What you’re seeing above:

1) BEHR Premuim Plus Paint in Bolero (right wall)
2) HAMPTON BAY Danstan Wall Mount Fireplace
3) SASSI 6 inch X 24 inch Dorada Ledgestone

All available at Home Depot Canada.

It may be hard to detect in the photo, but we offset the fireplace on the ledgestone to create geometric interest; it’s angled more to the left than right, and is positioned 3 feet from the leather sectional, which is the manufacturer’s recommended distance. And since our pot lights are equipped with dimmers, the fireplace looks oh so delightful.

#ProjectManCave continues!

    I love the look!
We have a VERY similar red as the accent wall in our kitchen and while I at first thought that it was a bold choice I now love it.
We’ve also been considering a wall mounted fireplace – now that I see what it looks like installed I think I must invest in one.

You must Cassandra! They’re so easy to install and quite affordable, too. It took less than 30 minutes to set up the Hampton Bay fireplace pictures above. Laying the ledgestone was another story…

I am envious! I am dying for 3 things when I move into a new spot… 1) Dishwasher (!!!), 2) Washer/Dryer 3) Any kind of fire place. Soo cozy. Is your Christmas tree going to go down there?

    • Lena

      December 1, 2013 at 8:12 am

Our Christmas tree will be on the main floor, but while shopping at Home Depot this past week I found a 6.5-ft Martha Stewart Living tree I just can’t resist :) So, we’ll have two trees this year!

I miss the fireplace I had in my last place… hopefully if I get my own home I will have one again, but it would have to be a real wood-burning fireplace – nothing beats the smell of a real fireplace. I might opt for an electric one as well for the basement ;)

    • Lena

      December 1, 2013 at 8:13 am

I agree, nothing can beat the ambiance of a real, wood burning fireplace. But for the basement, this is a safer option :)

I love the off set fireplace, looks amazing and the wall colour is great! Yes I would love to come over watch a movie while there is a blizzard out and now all you need is one of the large popcorn maker carts like we have to make it complete!

    • Lena

      December 1, 2013 at 8:15 am

Ah, that would make it perfect! But I don’t think I could stand stray popcorn kernels, LOL!

sweet, you should have your couch facing the fire your gonna get a stiff neck twisting to look at it

    • Lena

      December 1, 2013 at 8:17 am

Hahaha the fireplace is more for the ambiance of the room, not to look at – we’ll be too busy watching our television on the other side of the room :)

I really like the fireplace. It’s modern but still looks like it’s in a real house not a hotel.

Love it! I can’t handle offset for geometric interest, the OCD in me has to have things dead center – boring I know!! Your basement looks so much more inviting than mine!
