… But the fire is so delightful!
Little by little, #ProjectManCave is becoming a reality. What you’re seeing above:
1) BEHR Premuim Plus Paint in Bolero (right wall)
2) HAMPTON BAY Danstan Wall Mount Fireplace
3) SASSI 6 inch X 24 inch Dorada Ledgestone
All available at Home Depot Canada.
It may be hard to detect in the photo, but we offset the fireplace on the ledgestone to create geometric interest; it’s angled more to the left than right, and is positioned 3 feet from the leather sectional, which is the manufacturer’s recommended distance. And since our pot lights are equipped with dimmers, the fireplace looks oh so delightful.
#ProjectManCave continues!
I love the look!
We have a VERY similar red as the accent wall in our kitchen and while I at first thought that it was a bold choice I now love it.
We’ve also been considering a wall mounted fireplace – now that I see what it looks like installed I think I must invest in one.
You must Cassandra! They’re so easy to install and quite affordable, too. It took less than 30 minutes to set up the Hampton Bay fireplace pictures above. Laying the ledgestone was another story…
I am envious! I am dying for 3 things when I move into a new spot… 1) Dishwasher (!!!), 2) Washer/Dryer 3) Any kind of fire place. Soo cozy. Is your Christmas tree going to go down there?
Our Christmas tree will be on the main floor, but while shopping at Home Depot this past week I found a 6.5-ft Martha Stewart Living tree I just can’t resist :) So, we’ll have two trees this year!
I’m going to live in that room!!!
Not if I’m living there first!
I love how you’ve done the fireplace! It loooks great so far!
Thank you Anne!
I miss the fireplace I had in my last place… hopefully if I get my own home I will have one again, but it would have to be a real wood-burning fireplace – nothing beats the smell of a real fireplace. I might opt for an electric one as well for the basement ;)
I agree, nothing can beat the ambiance of a real, wood burning fireplace. But for the basement, this is a safer option :)
Warm and cozy – looks great so far! – can’t wait to see the completed project.
Thanks Marissa!
That fireplace looks so inviting with this cold weather :)
I think we’ll be hibernating in our man cave all winter!
I love that stone! Warm with great texture points. Great pick!
Thanks Caroline!
LOVE the fireplace! We are thinking of finishing our basement in the next few years and I’m defo getting a fireplace put in.
I definitely recommend this fireplace, Sarah! SO easy to install and looks great, too!
Just beautiful! And so cozy!
Thanks Heidi!
I love the off set fireplace, looks amazing and the wall colour is great! Yes I would love to come over watch a movie while there is a blizzard out and now all you need is one of the large popcorn maker carts like we have to make it complete!
Ah, that would make it perfect! But I don’t think I could stand stray popcorn kernels, LOL!
Love the fireplace!!!!! It is looking great. Think it may be more of a womancave than a mancave…lol
I think it’s a Glam Cave :)
Fancy!! :) Looks great! (And cozy!)
Thanks Nicole!
sweet, you should have your couch facing the fire your gonna get a stiff neck twisting to look at it
Hahaha the fireplace is more for the ambiance of the room, not to look at – we’ll be too busy watching our television on the other side of the room :)
Very nice. This is needed on this cold morning. Can’t wait to see the rest of your #projectmancave. I bet that’s now your favourite place to hang out.
It is! To tell the truth, I’ve never spent as much time in the basement as I have for the past month!
wow Lena that is looking so cozy perfect room to curl up and relax
Thanks Angie!
I really like the fireplace. It’s modern but still looks like it’s in a real house not a hotel.
That’s a great way to describe it! Thanks Nicoline!
Oh, PS – now that I can see a closer view of the sofa, it does look comfy :)
:) Review to come!
Wow, you guys are going all out! I didn’t even think about that.. great idea!
Thanks Jenn! My husband’s vision is finally coming to life, LOL!
Oh, I love the ambiance you are creating… he’s a lucky dude, cause I’d have to claim that as the Woman’s Den!
Glam Cave forever!
Seriously, this is GORGEOUS!
Thank you Tara!
Oh wow! This is beyond gorgeous! I love love love love the look! You guys are doing such an amazing job transforming the room!
Thanks Soozle, that means a lot!
Love it! I can’t handle offset for geometric interest, the OCD in me has to have things dead center – boring I know!! Your basement looks so much more inviting than mine!
Love, love, love the red wall!
Thanks Julia!
Loving it!! Looking forward to seeing the finished look…great work so far = )
Thank you Amirah :)
Love it! The fireplace looks awesome.
Thanks Carrie!

Not sure about the timer, but it does have a remote. I’ll have to wait for my electricity bill to find out!
Wow. This is really great. Looks so comfy.
Thanks Yannick!
Love the look
Thank you Ryan!
It is looking fantastic. I love the fireplace. Wish I had one for our far North Cold.
It does make things rather cozy!
Love that rich orangey-red! With the fire beside it (with rock that I love!) your room looks very comforting.
Thank you Brenda!
Looks great! We’re slowly working on getting our basement fully finished. I know Hubby would love a man cave to retreat to. Your Hubby’s looks awesome! Love it!
Thanks Christine!
Such a nice comfy spot !
I just love how you added the ledgestone,it draws my attention to the wall and shows the lovely fireplace
