Sometimes, a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do. And today, that includes putting together this Baked Chocolate Banana French Toast, made with delicious, thick-sliced Villaggio bread.
Have you had the pleasure of trying Villaggio Bread?
“At the heart of every Italian village is a bakery, where the inviting and welcoming aroma of fresh baked bread draws everyone in. Inspired by traditional Italian recipes, Villaggio breads and buns bring the warmth and simple pleasures of the village bakery to your home. The bread is baked to perfection with a golden crust. Soft, hearty and delicious; Villaggio is great to share with friends and family or enjoy on your own.”
As a carb enthusiast, I must admit that few things come close to a rustic, Italian-style sandwich made with fresh, thick-sliced bread. In fact, a Tuscan Salami Sandwich is pretty much my idea of perfection; take two slices of Villaggio Thick-Sliced Italian Bread, three slices of Schneiders Country Naturals Salami, two slices of tomato, a slice of provolone cheese, and a few leaves of fresh basil. Finish with a generous spread of garlic mayonnaise. Sounds like perfection? Oh, it is. Italian-style.
And now that you’re completely craving comfort food, I’m so happy to share that my favourite purveyor of bakery bread is now on Twitter! Welcome @VillaggioBread by giving them a follow – and celebrate with us on Monday, October 28th at 8:00pm EDT. It’s the #GroceryGondola Twitter Party!
As always, we’ll have fabulous prizes up for grabs (and an Italian-themed surprise or two!). You won’t want to miss it – simply RSVP below to be eligible for prizing. Looking forward to partying with you!

I’m drooling…that looks SO good! That is definitely on the menu for this weekend!
I made it and it’s YUMMY.
That recipe looks so good, but oh so not good for my diet. Love Villaggio Bread!
My favourite bread!
um WOW that looks divine …. O.o
Try it Angie!
That sounds yummy (and oh so sugary sweet) – wonder how it would turn out if I substituted Philly Chocolate Cream Cheese… I always buy the Villaggio buns for hot dogs and hamburgers, and on special occasions their bread (I am not a big bread eater). I won’t be “tweeting”, but I will pass this on to my daughter ;)
I think it would taste divine with Chocolate Cream Cheese :)
This looks unbelievably yummy!
It is SO good, Heidi!
That looks like French Toast from Heaven! Sara would love this, she loves anything with chocolate :) I like Villaggio Bread with preserves and cheese another no, no for my diet but that’s ok…if I am going to cheat, I will cheat BIG!
I like your attitude!
Oh wow, I have never tried this “Tuscan Salami Sandwich” but it sounds amazing! I love sandwiches and am still looking for my favourite combo!
