I know what you’re thinking: “Lena, your boys are 3 and 5. How can this be your first Halloween?”
Well, it’s simple. This is the very first year that both boys equally, unequivocally and enthusiastically understand what Halloween is all about… and couldn’t be more excited for it! It’s Halloween this, Halloween that, Halloween EVERYTHING day and night. And the best part – they don’t even care about the treats. I don’t think they recall the element of trick-or-treating at all – which in my book, makes their excitement even better.
Halloween has been a month-long celebration for us. As soon as October hit and the spooky decor made its way into stores, we’ve been indulging in all things Halloween-related. Yes, we have uncarved pumpkins on our porch, waiting to be prepped. You can bet we’ve visited Party City once or twice, deciding on the perfect costumes for the boys. And you just know we’ve been PVR’ing all the kid-friendly Halloween specials in anticipation of the big day.
As a #DisneyJuniorMom, I’m pleased to share with you some spooktacular news: Disney Junior celebrates Halloween weeknights at 6pm ET all month-long!
There will be brand-new, Halloween-themed episodes of Jake and the Never Land Pirates, Sofia the First, Stella and Sam, Henry Huggle Monster and Bananas in Pajamas… along with some classic favourites from these and other hit Disney Junior series. And to help crank up the spooky factor another notch – Disney Junior will be airing Halloween episodes ALL DAY on October 30th and 31st!
Also, be sure to check out the Big Halloween Party section on Disney Junior’s website, for tons of great Halloween games, crafts and colouring pages. We’ve been printing sheets daily – did you know that my boys are obsessed with colouring? It’s true! We literally have hundreds of colouring pages strewn across our family room floor. Sigh.
Of course, the question of the day – what will my boys be for Halloween? Well, they had big plans to dress up as Mike and Sulley from Monsters University. In fact, we scoured many a costume store to find the matching set. And while we were successful in locating a Sulley costume for Ryder, we’re still on the search for a Mike costume for Reid. They seem to be sold out wherever we look! Ack!
In the meantime, Reid decided that he wanted to be Cookie Monster. (Didn’t I tell you Halloween was a month-long affair? Yes, they’ve already worn their costumes on three different occasions!) And Reid doesn’t feel so bad about not finding Mike, because he’s still a monster, of course.
Is Halloween a month-long event at your house? What are the kiddos dressing up as this year?

The opinions on this blog are my own.
Your boys are adorable! We haven’t finalized our decision on my son’s costume yet. Shark, cowboy with a horse or a squirrel…or perhaps just a lot of Halloween parties so we have a chance to use them all!
Thanks Cheryl!
Halloween is not really focused on in our home. Our youngest may or may not dress up. We are actually away this year for it.
Maybe when the kiddos are older? Enjoy your travels!
Cute costumes! We start Halloween on Labor Day weekend when they do it at our trailer park, so you could say it goes for a couple months in our house :)
LOVE it!
Such adorable boys! In our household, when my girls were little, Halloween was basically a one day deal lol We did spend time deciding on costumes and stuff like that but once it was over I was a happy camper again!
Thank you Anne :)
I know for sure what two of my granddaughters are going to be. The oldest – Cheshire Cat, the youngest Minnie Mouse – the middle one loves Strawberry Shortcake and Cars – so your guess would be as good as mine for her LOL. The baby is only 4 mos old, so they aren’t dressing him up, and the oldest boy, well he loves anything video game related, so it is bound to be something from a video game :) I will be telling my daughter and son-in-law about the Disney Jr. Halloween shows and website too :)
Ah, love it! Sounds so adorable!
There aren’t any small kids in my house so no shopping for costumes. However, I do enjoy giving out Halloween treats to the neighbourhood kids. Lena, your boys look so adorable and their costumes are awesome!
Thank you Marissa!
omg what adorable costumes!! My daughter is going as Cinderella, she’s 7, at that age where she wants to be ‘pretty’., last year she was a vampire lol. I didn’t realize there were Halloween themed shows on disney every week night for the entire month!
I’m sure she’ll make a beautiful princess!
Cute! My dogs are dressing up (for fun) as spiderman and a witch. My daughter’s much too old to go out now unfortunately.
OMG adorable :)
Halloween is my favourite holiday and is definitely a month-long event! I usually start planning in August =P Your boys look great – I hope they have an amazing Halloween! Happy Halloween! :)
August!! Love it!
The boys are so cute!!!!
My little 5 month old is going to be a “pea in a pod” alongside her 4 month old cousin in the same outfit, so cute!
SO cute Anna!
Love Halloween, we put up a few decorations for the kids who come to the door for treats. Was a big event when the kids were little. We had fun picking out costumes or making them. Had the pleasure of taking the grandkids out last year in Alberta. We suffered the cold and the snow.
Cold and snow on Halloween? Not sure I could do that, LOL!
OMG Lena! Cute factor overload. Unlike your kids, mine are looking forward to the treats. They are going as the devil and Pikachu.
I can’t wait to see pictures :)
I dont know about my girls but Im dressing up as raggedy anne
Love it Chandra!
so cute!!
Thanks Debbie!
Your boys are SO precious in their costumes! I have to admit that I am hoping that you find the ‘Mike’ costume, as that would be so perfect!
Alas, we did not :(
Very sweet costumes and the pictures of the boys look fabulous! I think it is so sweet that they have already worn their costumes.
Thanks Teresa – gotta get as much use out of them as possible!
OMG now how sweet are those boys…
We love Halloween and will start the festivities tonight with an adult party and kids parties all weekend !
