A few weeks ago, I featured Marc Jacobs Beauty on my Monday Covet List. Sold exclusively at Sephora, the line encompasses his trademark mix of youth, confidence and experimentation. With hues inspired by couture and embodied in sleekly designed cases (with the calling card: MARC JACOBS emblazoned across the collection), the products are the epitome of covet-worthiness.
Well, as it turns out, the beautiful thing about the Internet is that sometimes, your Fairy Godmother appears when you least expect it. And my Fairy Godmother’s name is Sephora. She read my Monday Covet List, and decided that I shouldn’t simply covet the items from afar. Hence, a chariot arrived (we’ll call it UPS) and presented me with gorgeous pieces from the Marc Jacobs Beauty collection.
(Will somebody please tell me when it’s midnight? I don’t want this fairy tale to end.)
But once I received the products, I realized that I had an interesting conundrum on my hands. You see, the items are so stunning, so breathtaking, I simply cannot bear to – gasp – use them. Instead, I’ve been appreciating their sheer and utter beauty with a reverence normally reserved for Crown jewels. And I *may* have reorganized my entire bathroom vanity to showcase the cosmetics in all their splendour and glory.
Alas! The items are begging to be swatched and sampled; whispering promises of rich, sumptuous colour, instant color payoff and long-lasting plush performance. And I’ll do it. I’ll review them the way they’re meant to be reviewed. But in the meantime, can we all just pause for a moment to appreciate the sublime artistry?
Get smitten with this fresh take on nail enamel. Inspired by Marc’s highly lacquered coffee table, Enamored Hi-Shine Lacquer is formulated with patented bonding agents that deliver a plasticized, wet look, while the color-rich creams and fine glitters ensure vivid, chip-resistant wear. Choose from a vast array of shades inspired by Marc’s favorite movies. A superior polish with an unprecedented finish and the shine of 30 coats of lacquer.
The custom, curve-hugging brush optimizes application and the curvature of the bottle resembles a smile. Each shade is 3-Free: formulated without toluene, formaldehyde, and DBP. Pictured above: “Shocking” (Opaque Muted Hot Pink) and “Glinda” (Silver Glitter). $22.00
Next, the Style Eye-Con No.3 is a petite set of three plush eye shadows that harmoniously marry with a creamy, sumptuous finish. “The Rebel” is pictured below: Warm Ivory/ Deep Hot Pink Sheen/ Matte Dark Grayish Purple.
Each mini palette of shimmery metallics, buttery mattes, and lustrous sheens are made with advanced pigments that allow true, instant color payoff and long-lasting, plush performance. Shades are cleverly sized to suit your eye shadow needs. Marc invites you to play and become your own Style Eye-Con. $50.00
Of course, you will fall in love with Marc’s irresistible, gellified lipstick. Full of pure pigment, this long-wearing lipstick has an irresistibly touchable texture. Unlike traditional waxy lipsticks, Lovemarc’s cutting-edge, gellified formula delivers the utmost in creaminess, comfort, and color payoff. An infusion of monoi butter – a velvety cream made from the tropical tiare flower – provides intense hydration, while myrrh extract works to reduce the signs of aging, and an innovative 3-D plumping agent adds gentle volume. Pictured Below: “Seduce Me” (Berry Red).
Subtly scented with vanilla, Lovemarc will be your new object of desire. $36.00
Finally, one of Marc’s favorite products, Remedy Concealer Pen is the perfect fix for the sins of a carefree youth or just the aftermath of last night. Formulated with advanced pigments, powerful antioxidants, and Remedy Complex – a unique blend of hydrating and anti-aging ingredients – this next-generation concealer brightens, hydrates, and soothes the skin while providing the coverage you need for a fresh, bright-eyed finish. The palladium applicator cools on contact to reduce puffiness and one click is all it takes for the perfect amount of product. Boy tested. Girl approved.
The two universal brightening and correcting shades flatter all skintones, while the versatile shade range complements most skintones. $47.00
Thank you for taking the time to collectively “oooh” and “ahhh” over this gorgeous designer collection. I’ll be back soon to show off some of my favourite items and provide a more in-depth review. However, as you all know, I’m a bit of a collector. So, I booted it to Sephora to pick up a two more Nail Laquers; Blue Velvet (Iridescent Deep Ocean Blue) and Lux (Opaque Chartreuse Yellow, pictured below).
Tell Me: Have you ever purchased a designer makeup collection, or fragrance?
Uhhh I think I’m in love. So posh, it’s no wonder you can’t stand to actually use them. As for your question, I wear Betsey Johnson Too Too Perfume.
I love the bottle of the Too Too fragrance :) And yes, willing myself to crack them open!
At $50 per eyeshadow I don’t think I’d use the products either because I couldn’t afford to replace them! But I love that you have a fairy godmother and in that case I can’t wait to see your review (but I’ll forgive you if you want to covet for a bit longer)
Hahaha I promise I won’t covet for too long :)
that is so lucky! that’s pretty expensive nail polish and it doesn’t look like you get very much. I’ll stick to the cheap stuff until my girls know how to tighten a bottle and it doesn’t leak all over everything in their drawer or bag.
I definitely wouldn’t recommend the products for wee ones, unless you’re Suri Cruise, of course :)
No can’t say that I have ever purchased a designer makeup or perfume. Now I was given a designer perfume years ago, I didn’t like it. I would hate to spend the money only to find out that I didn’t like the way it performed
That’s what those sample women are for – you know, the ones who hang out at department stores trying to spritz you!
I actually can’t wait to see how the nail polish looks on you. Too expensive for my blood but I can live vicariously through you. I have the Chanel #5 perfume but that’s about it.
Chanel #5! A classic. Love it.
What a nice surprise!! They look so pretty but a review is definitely in order, can’t wait to read it! Enjoy your goodies :)
Thanks Judy! I think I might attack the lip colour first – it’s so appropriate for fall!
Ahhh swoon!!!! I’ve made the occasional splurge here and there but like you, I end up being so selective about using it!
Uh huh. Although sometimes I covet things for SO long I don’t end up using them at all!
I’m guilty of that too! I often wonder why it’s so easy for me to spoil my loved ones and yet I’m so stingy when it comes to spoiling myself!
I’m the same way :)
Now that’s a colourful surprise for sure !! The only “designer” fragrances I bought were “Sung”, “Sung Pure” and “Eternity” (I think one was a gift). I don’t use much makeup or perfume, so haven’t bought anything for a while (last perfume purchase was Lise Watier Neiges Frisson).
Can’t wait to read your review of these products !
Ah, good old Sung! It was such an iconic fragrance back in the day.
Holy gorgeous cosmetics! They look so sleek – I want them all =D
I completely understand your fascination :)
Oh I agree, I have such a hard time using something with pretty bottles. AND, tell me you didn’t take those photos with your iPhone camera?! Great shots!
LOL no – just my Fuji point & shoot. I still can’t bring myself to buy a DSLR, even though I know I should!!
The polishes are really striking. They look so luxe.
They’re art!!
I’m so jealous, I wish my fairy god mother was Sephora.. I really love the MJ line, and although the polishes are a bit streaky, the finish is AMAZING and really gives off a lacquered feel!
Thank you so much for the feedback Mir! I’ll be sure to keep that in mind when I (finally) test them out!
Awesome little fairytale! The items here look like a dream! I really love the packaging, and those nail polish shades – WOW! That lipstick shade is perfect for the fall and winter!!
I agree. The lipstick is the first thing I’ll use!
What a conundrum to have? lol All of these products look magnificent, I’d probably display them in the living room for all to see haha
Hahaha trust me, I’ve thought about it Anne!
Oh you lucky, lucky girl! As for fragrances I haven’t bought them but over the years have won – CK Euphoria, 2 Fendi’s, an Elizabeth Arden Mediterranean and a Marc Jacobs Daisy.
I heard Marc Jacobs Daisy is a beautiful scent. I’ll definitely have to grab a sample.
Beautiful! That is some of the best cosmetic packaging I’ve ever seen. I’d probably keep it on display polish it weekly, haha!
Hahaha I should Swiffer the bottles, LOL
You’re a lucky duck! I think that shade of lipstick will look fantastic on you!
I agree Victoria! Thanks so much!
ohhh they are gorgeous colors, love the yellow nail polish!
Me too!
The packaging and colours are so beautiful but I tend to stick with less expensive brands!
I do too. I consider this art!
They do look to pretty to use. You don’t want half a bottle displayed, you want a full pretty bottle.
