Grill On. The Weber Genesis S-330 Natural Gas Grill

August 14, 2013 By Lena

Disclaimer: Reviewing the Weber Genesis S-330 Natural Gas Grill is kind of like reviewing a luxury car. I mean really, what’s not to love? You simply won’t find a better grill for the price.

We were fortunate to receive the grill for review from The Home Depot Canada as part of our #ProjectPatio overhaul. Now in the spirit of being completely honest… and you know I always am… I actually haven’t used this grill once. Frankly, I don’t even know how to turn it on. To me, it’s nothing more than a shiny new appliance that looks kind of spectacular on my shiny new patio.

However, the MAN CHEF in my family is near-orgasmic over this contraption. In fact, my husband has attributed most of his happiness this summer to the addition of the BBQ. Hence, when he’s not wiping it down or admiring it from afar (yes, I have caught him staring), he can usually speak to its features and attributes.

“This stainless steel rendition of our top-of-the-line Genesis natural gas grill creates an atmosphere of pure grilling excellence. It’s high-heat Sear Station burner, three standard stainless steel burners, and electronic ignition system are just a few of the noteworthy features you won’t be able to resist.” – Weber Grills

– 38,000 BTU cooking system provides powerful heat and performance
– The 10,600 BTU sear burner is designed to step up the heat on demand for searing
– The 12,000 BTU flush mounted side burner let’s you multi task at the grill
– The stainless steel rod cooking grids have a 7mm diameter
– Includes a 10-foot flexible natural gas hose
– Two stainless steel work surfaces offer plenty of room for all your grilling needs

Of course, before I let him get into the nitty gritty, here’s what I like about the Weber Genesis S-330 Natural Gas Grill:

Okay, it’s pretty obvious that I’m a huge fan of our new BBQ, for obvious, delicious reasons. But why is my husband on cloud nine?

1. Ergonomic, Flawless Design

With its generous cooking space to its 7mm diameter stainless-steel rod cooking grates, the Genesis S-330 gas grill simply exudes quality and craftsmanship. The burners roar to life and the grill heats up in minutes. Gone are the days of waiting for the BBQ to reach the optimal temperature; the Genesis S-330 is ready before you are. Then, the evenly heated cooking surface and precision controls allow you to tone things down or up to the perfect heat level for direct or indirect cooking. It’s no coincidence that food tastes better when grilled on the Weber Genesis.

2. Flavorizer Bars

Pretty sure that it’s a scientific term; the “Flavorizer Bars” are angled in just the right way to catch drippings that smoke and sizzle, which in turn – you guessed it – add extra flavour to your food. Think of it as deliciousness through osmosis. A bonus: any drippings not vaporized by the Flavorizer bars follow the angled slope and are funneled away from the burner tubes, which means that they’re rarely clogged with junk.

3. Grease Management

Likely my husband’s favourite feature. Say goodbye to flareups for good! And it’s not complicated at all – “When juices drip off the meat, they funnel down to the Flavorizer bars, and then what doesn’t vaporize into wonderful smoke goes down into the grease management system. The grease management system consists of an angled grease tray and catch pan. The grease tray rests beneath the cookbox a safe distance from the burner tubes to prevent the grease from catching fire.” – Weber Grills

4. Easy Clean Up

Stainless steel rod cooking grates make lovely sear marks, hold heat very well, and most importantly, clean up with ease. And since my husband dotes on his new BBQ, he has a vested interest in keeping it gorgeous. Lucky for him, a gentle brushing is all it takes to go from charred to pristine.

5.  Sear Station Burner & Side Burner

The crown jewel of the S-330 model; the 10,600 BTU sear burner is designed to step up the heat on demand for searing. Seal in juices of your best-cut steaks and chops; get gorgeous grill marks on fish and whole veggies.

The Weber Genesis S-330 Natural Gas Grill retails for $1119.99 at The Home Depot Canada and will likely become part of your family.

(Or…. as witnessed on the right, it may replace members of your family. At least on desktop computer backgrounds.)

Special thanks to The Home Depot Canada for making our #ProjectPatio EPIC with the addition of this amazing Weber Genesis S-330 Natural Gas Grill. And in case all this BBQ talk has given you a hankering for some grilled grub, here are a few of my favourite BBQ recipes from the ol’ blog:

Grilled Picnic Taco Nachos
Rosemary Grilled Chicken
Korean Barbecue Beef Burgers
Turkey Burgers

Grilled Salmon Tacos with Avocado Dressing
Lentil Walnut Burgers
Grilled Pomegranate Butterflied Chicken Breasts
Peri Peri Barbecued Chicken Legs

Grill on, folks. Grill on.

  9. Flora M

    August 15, 2013 at 12:12 pm

Everything looks so delicious ! Wish I were able to have a natural gas BBQ again – they are so convenient as opposed to lugging propane tanks to get them refilled or have them poof out in the middle of cooking a meal. When I can, this is definitely the one I am going for ! Can I borrow your hubby to grill me up some of those ribs or the fish ??? LOL

    • Lena

      August 15, 2013 at 12:36 pm

Hahaha consider him loaned out! And I’m so happy to hear that you love the features of the grill. It’s pretty awesome!

make sure you disconnect during the winter!! You don’t want a huge bill by someone turning that on (I’ve heard of this via rumors but don’t know if its a true rumor LOL) My friend did this and also has one of those gas firepits to keep you warm at night

We have a new Weber as well, my favourite feature is the removable drip tray – just slides right out – for easy cleaning, and the fat collector with the replaceable tin foil trays. Love it! Hubby loves the flavour bars, and the searing station on the Weber.

    • Lena

My husband says that cleaning is – to quote him – a joy!

    • Lena

      August 25, 2013 at 10:04 am

The food is indeed very yummy! But I think that’s mostly because it’s a kick ass BBQ!

That corn on the cob looks so good! I really want to try those nachos too.

I think other than the easy clean up, my favorite thing you talked about is the ‘no flare ups’ because of the grease management system. There are things I won’t BBQ because of the grease that comes off of them and the flare ups.

    • Lena

      September 14, 2013 at 5:33 pm

Flare ups are the bane of my existence! Not a problem anymore with the Weber Grill!

Although I do not have a Weber I have a very good high end BBQ and have had it for several years now. I love that the lighter button STILLS WORKS! Unlike the cheaper BBQ I don’t have to look for a BBQ lighter each time I go to use it. I highly recommned investing in a good BBQ that will give you years of pleasure using it rather than replacing cheaper ones and dealing with half working ones for years! Enjoy your awesome new BBQ!
