They Came. They Tasted. They Savoured the Flavour.

June 6, 2013 By Lena

What is it about food posts that make my tummy rumble in defiance? I’m this close to sending the husband out for a Signature McWrap right now.

If you’re a loyal reader (my favourite kind!), you’ll know that two weeks ago, I hosted an intimate event with Anne Parks, Director of Menu Management, at a McDonald’s restaurant in Toronto. We enjoyed a picnic-style lunch, chatted menu inspiration and sampled the NEW Signature McWrap.

Now I could go on about how much I adore the tasty, generously-portioned, fresh and fully customizable McWrap, but why not see what my fellow social media friends had to say?

The verdict: two thumbs WAY up. In fact, I recently met up with Mara and Deborah at another event, and the conversation quickly turned to how much we enjoyed noshing on our Signature McWrap. Chatting about a McDonald’s menu item while sipping mojitos? You bet!

Highlights from the Signature McWrap picnic:

– Anne Parks. The amazing Anne Parks. Not only did she give us an inside glimpse into how she chooses menu items for McDonald’s Canada, but she stayed with us through the entire luncheon, chatted about food, answered countless questions, and even gave us tips and tricks for making good food great. She was informative, engaging, and truly an expert in her field. Kudos Anne!

– Life is about options. I think many attendees (including myself) were surprised at just how customizable the new Signature McWrap really is. Grilled or crispy; hold the mayo or tomatoes, a little more spicy sauce, a little less lettuce… truly, you can create a wrap that complements your health and lifestyle choices.

– A terrific value. The Signature McWrap is HUGE! To tell the truth, I finished about 60% and then quietly stashed the rest away for later. Make no mistake; for just $4.99, you are getting a MEAL. I suppose it’s the little things – the whole wheat tortilla has fibre which fills you up; the generous portion of chicken has the perfect meat-to-veggie ratio, and the fixin’s such as bacon, tortilla strips and/or other fresh produce go a long way to make the McWrap hearty.

My favourite pictures from the picnic:

That’s Anne and I at the very top; the lovely @SuzieRidler and @InRDream; Anne chatting with the entire group; my girls @Mom2Michael and @ParentClub; and the amazing @ChickyMara and @CherylPeters.

There’s still time to enter to win a Signature McWrap Picnic Prize Pack valued at over $150! Included: Ten (10) “Be My Guest” cards to try the new Signature McWrap for free; a checkered fleece blanket; reusable bamboo plates and cutlery (2 sets); and a Frisbee!

Click here to learn more about the Signature McWrap, and to enter the giveaway. Good luck everybody!

Thanks Ira! Old Navy has the best dress selection closer to the holidays – that’s when I recommend snapping one up!

I think you should, Tricha. It actually tastes like something you would get from a sandwich shop!

My dad got a couple of these the other night for dinner and phoned me immediately after he ate one. He raved about how good it was and that he had to save the other for the next day’s lunch as it was so filling!

It’s great to see McDonald’s offering healthier foods these days!

    • Lena

      June 8, 2013 at 10:37 am

I LOVE that he phoned you after eating one! And yes, they’re HUGE – so very filling!

I never concidered I could ask for MORE spicy – thanks!!

    • Lena

      June 8, 2013 at 10:40 am

Yes ma’am! A little extra chili sauce makes a huge difference!

  10. Flora M

    June 7, 2013 at 2:44 pm

So totally agree that they are HUGE and a terrific value for the money. They aren’t skimpy with the fillings either… just wish they designed the tubes with a bottom that is different from the top (flat maybe)… I was distracted talking to my granddaughter when I had my first one, opened it at the wrong end and nearly had the middle fall into my lap LOL

    • Lena

      June 8, 2013 at 10:41 am

Om my!!! LOL Flora I can see that happening. That’s great feedback; I’ll be sure to pass it on to McDonald’s!

My partner raves about these, so I know they must be good, because he usually doesn’t willingly admit buying ‘fast food’.

We’re driving to Quebec in a few days, and after reading all these posts and comments, I’m getting VERY excited at the thought of picking up a few McWraps at the drive-thru.

    • Lena

      June 9, 2013 at 8:25 am

Road trip!! Have a wonderful time in Quebec (great time of year to go!) and enjoy the McWrap!

        June 9, 2013 at 11:09 am

I hope it’s a good time! This is actually a do-over, after going last New Years. We drove to Montreal and Quebec, during the freak snowstorm, and camped our in our hotels for four days.

        • Lena

          June 9, 2013 at 11:44 pm

I remember you telling me about that!!! We did New Year’s 2001 in Montreal and there was a freak snowstorm – gah! It was horrible. Hence, why I said it’s a good time of year to go in JUNE!! :) Have fun!
