Ten Teals to Try this Summer

June 5, 2013 By Lena

Whether you adore the prettiest pink or the most muted mulberry, there’s no denying that this summer, it’s time to take a walk on the teal side. The modern hue has long since crossed over from interior design to beauty editor’s pages, and graced the runway as the fingernail colour of choice for Spring/Summer 2013.

I have long had a love-affair with this cool, mermaid-inspired shade – call it rebellious, eclectic or just plain fabulous – here are Ten Teals to Try this Summer:

1. China Glaze, Watermelon Rind; 2. Nails Inc, Fitzroy Square; 3. Butter London, Slapper; 4. Essie, Trophy Wife; 5. Milani, Fresh Teal; 6. OPI, Teal the Cows Come Home; 7. Sally Hansen, Fairy Teal; 8. Sephora by OPI, Teal We Meet Again; 9. Ciaté Paint Pots, Superficial; 10. Color Club, Abyss.

“Teal” Me: Do you love this trendy hue?

    • Lena

I’m a pink girl myself; I actually have baby pink on my toenails and teal on my fingernails, eek!

    • Lena

      June 8, 2013 at 10:51 am

Ah… I don’t mind it as an eyeliner, but even then, it has to be balanced.

Great choices! I love the colour teal but I don’t own any nail polishes of that shade. I might just have to now! The ones with a metallic sheen to them (like the Essie and OPI one) totally reminds me of a mermaid’s tail! Very cool

    • Lena

      June 8, 2013 at 10:53 am

Yes, the scales of a mermaid’s tail for sure! I adore the Essie polish.

I just picked up some teal nail polish today! I feel so hip! Actually, I got it for my girls but I think Mommy might give it a try!

    • Lena

      June 8, 2013 at 10:54 am

Oh, Mommy definitely has to give it a try! I always say, toenails first so you can get used to the colour :)

  29. anne cresswell

Think the teal would look fantastic on longer nails, probably not so much on my shorter ones, but I’m going to try it anyway.

    • Lena

      June 12, 2013 at 6:46 pm

I agree; the shade looks a bit off on my stubby fingernails :(

  30. Holly

    June 11, 2013 at 11:25 am

I love the color teal. I have a few of these (I’m kind of nail polish obsessed). Essie’s Trophy Wife is my favorite. I don’t like it for a summer color though but that’s personal preference.

    • Lena

      June 12, 2013 at 6:46 pm

So awesome you already own some of these polishes, Holly – I’m impressed! :)

I love teal and seeing it in nail polishes makes me love it more. I would love any of these on my nails.
