Thursday Morning Road Trip

January 24, 2013 By Lena

I’m disrupting my routine this morning.

Instead of waking up early to blog, I chose to snuggle with Reid until 7:30am.
I normally give the kids cereal and chocolate milk for breakfast, but today, I’m dressing them in warm layers.
And, I’m trading blogging for a road trip.

It’s not a very long road trip; chances are, we’ll be in the car for just 3 minutes.
Not even long enough for the heat to kick in, really.
In fact, it’ll probably take me more time to dress the boys than to reach our destination.

But, my mind has been made up and now it’s time to go.

We’re headed to McDonald’s – where I’ll finally have a chance to experience their new Raspberry Mocha. I’ve been dreaming about it for days! Soon, chocolately fruity beverage, you will be mine.

See you sweethearts! Have a most splendid day, and stay warm! I plan on cozying up to this little drink.

so how was it? is it worth my drive there this afternoon?

So the verdict is… it’s quite yummy! It was warm, and comforting, and reminded me of the raspberry-chocolate candies I had as a child. I would definitely give it a try – and I WILL order it again!

OH that looks SO wonderful!! All the good things are made with milk….do you know if they have the option of soy or almond milk?? I hate missing out.

    • Lena

      January 26, 2013 at 4:30 pm

I just tweeted them for you, asking that exact question! Will let you know when they reply!

Okay, I found the question/answer in their FAQ’s – “We don’t have any current plans to offer soy milk or milk alternatives for our McCafé beverages. However, our menu is always evolving to suit the tastes of our customers, so this is an option that may be considered in the future. Thanks for your suggestion!”

that looks delicious but I don’t like coffee, mocha, cappuccino, or anything like that. I can drink tea, weak but it’s still tea. Anything else and it is a no go… I want to like it.. I want to be a cool kid but oh no.. haha

    • Lena

      January 26, 2013 at 4:39 pm

Hahaha I think for most of us, it’s 50% about being cool, and 50% about fueling our caffeine addiction. And in the case of the Raspberry Mocha, satisfying our sweet tooth too!

Yeah, road trip. Whoo hoo! I hope the raspberry mocha was all you hoped for and more. ;)
Lena, I do not drink coffee but it does look rather tasty.

It was quite delish, Melissa! Well worth the road trip :)

I tried one yesterday – didn’t like the raspberry sauce (topping?) right on the whip cream but once I got to the mocha part where it just gave a little hint, it was lovely! I’m usually pretty rigid about where I get my coffee but the combination was too tempting to pass up and I’m glad I gave it a shot!

Oh so delicious I bet, how was it? Thats all I need is another Mocha to become addicted too lol!!! May have to make a trip to Mcd’s tomorrow morning :P

    • Lena

      January 26, 2013 at 4:42 pm

It was yummy, Tammy! And since it’s only available for a limited time, chances are you won’t get addicted to it :)

It looks really pretty in that picture… perfect for Valentine’s Day! Too bad I’m not a big fan of raspberry! Props to McD’s for being creative and coming out with new items though!

      January 26, 2013 at 4:43 pm

Hear, hear! Love when companies are innovative and offer holiday-themed menu items. The Shamrock Shake for St. Patty’s day is my all-time favourite!

The picture looks lovely and very tasty. What did the boys have? I remember taking Sara through the drive through for a sausage & egg mcmuffin…our personal favourite. I haven’t been there for a long time but I think that I will try out this McCafe. I wonder if it is real whipped cream…I could eat a ton of just that!! When I was driving home yesterday I passed a McDonald’s…well I slowed down because a Filet-O-Fish was yelling my name! I will give this a try :)

    • Lena

      January 26, 2013 at 4:45 pm

Well, coincidentally… the boys had a sausage and egg McMuffin! They love them, especially Reid :)

I hope you’ll give it a try – and let us know what you think!

So I saw this on your blog and tried it this afternoon! SO GOOD! I love it! The saucey-syrup wasn’t my favourite part and I’ll order it again without it. But it was yummy, thanks for letting me know about it!

    • Lena

      January 26, 2013 at 4:47 pm

LOVE it! So happy you enjoyed – and thanks for letting everyone know!

I hate the greasy smell that comes every time I pass through McDonalds. I would love to try the coffee just for that fruity flavor but oh boy, that smell drives me away right at the entrance!

    • Lena

      January 28, 2013 at 8:24 am

Hahaha it’s worth it – maybe just think mocha thoughts :)

    February 1, 2013 at 1:12 pm

Well I tried one and it wasn’t bad, mine did not look anything like that picture though

    • Lena

      February 5, 2013 at 7:58 pm

Oh, but food at McD’s never looks like the picture! Thanks for trying it!

    February 6, 2013 at 7:27 pm

I too was dying to try this, as I have made a huge leap from Timmies to Mc D’s coffee, I have to say I love all they have to offer – My Fave over the holidays was the Peppermint Mocha, so hoping it was not going to be out done i needed to have the Raspberry!! I have mixed emotions about it – It smells great, but maybe it was just the way the lady made it, i think she didn’t put enough – so to fair i have plans to try it again, maybe a different server will make it better – i hope so!

    • Lena

      February 10, 2013 at 5:58 pm

Oooh, thanks for the feedback Chantelle! It may be server error – you’re right, you should be able to taste the raspberry!
