My good friend and blogger, Robin Edwards of Shop with Robin, is a style maven. Truth: I once witnessed her pair a Michael Kors handbag and Tory Burch flats with a chic knit top from… wait for it… Walmart. OMG.

But that’s exactly what style mavens do; they know how to incorporate frugal fashion with haute couture – the end result being effortless style that’s fun and fresh. And it’s Robin that really turned me onto Old Navy; known for trendy pieces that won’t break the bank, she’s always pointing out stylish items that will add panache to my wardrobe. In fact, thanks to her artful suggestions, I now have a festive sparkly tank top to layer under cardigans and blazers for press events; a perfectly mod flared ponte-knit dress for holiday soirees; and the hottest red skinny jeans for jolly romps through the snow.

So here’s a tribute to Robin; my best picks from Old Navy that will take you through the holiday season with fashion and flair. BLOCK IT LIKE ITS HOT

Continuing the trend of pops of colour, the contrasting blocks on these lightweight tops are perfectly paired with black pants for an easy office-to-party look. Tons of colour combinations to choose from – I’m leaning towards blue hues this holiday season. Bonus: loose fitting and comfy tops hide those extra Christmas cookies!

CANDY CANE STRIPES

If there was any doubt that stripes are HOT this season, one look at the Old Navy dresses section will settle it once and for all.     Loooove Old Navy! I tried on the black sequined tank top, thinking I’d buy it to wear for Christmas Eve or Christmas day, but when I stepped out of the change room, my husband said “Please do not buy that!” :( I guess he’s not a fan of extreme sparkle =P So I went and bought a beautiful $75 dress instead – ha!

      I think sequins and sparkles are great all year round – but definitely more accessible and accepted during the holidays!

    If you enjoy getting cheap for cheaper, I totally took advantage of free sheeping over $50 (or the few times it’s been free shipping on anything) and the 30% off everything sales. Over the course of the past 2 weeks I’ve spent almost $300 and have gotten in over $800+ worth of clothing and accessories for myself and my kids bewteen OldNavy, Gap, and The Children’s Place:) I believe the 30% off Gap/OldNavy/BananaRepublic ends at midnight tonight!

    I have not shopped Old Navy, but just received an early Christmas gift of a couple of tops from there. They are So comfortable and dressy enough I can wear them to the office. I will definitely be checking them out.
