My good friend and blogger, Robin Edwards of Shop with Robin, is a style maven. Truth: I once witnessed her pair a Michael Kors handbag and Tory Burch flats with a chic knit top from… wait for it… Walmart. OMG.
But that’s exactly what style mavens do; they know how to incorporate frugal fashion with haute couture – the end result being effortless style that’s fun and fresh. And it’s Robin that really turned me onto Old Navy; known for trendy pieces that won’t break the bank, she’s always pointing out stylish items that will add panache to my wardrobe. In fact, thanks to her artful suggestions, I now have a festive sparkly tank top to layer under cardigans and blazers for press events; a perfectly mod flared ponte-knit dress for holiday soirees; and the hottest red skinny jeans for jolly romps through the snow.
So here’s a tribute to Robin; my best picks from Old Navy that will take you through the holiday season with fashion and flair. These on-trend pieces are all affordably priced at under $60 – with the average price being JUST $20!!! Yup – if there’s ever a time to update your seasonal wardrobe, it’s NOW.
SPARKLE AND SHINE
These soft, medium-weight jersey tops have an edge over the competition – they’re machine washable! Available in a myriad of colours, they also pass the important “non-scratchy-under-the-armpit” test that so many other sequined tops fall victim to. You can grab the tank tops today for just $15!
STRIKES A CORD WITH ME
The super stretchy and universally flattering Rockstar… in corduroy? Heck yes! And with brights and pastels to suit every whim and fancy, these are sure to be your go-to pants this holiday season. LOVE the smooth, fine-wale corduroy that has added stretch to shape your derrière. On promo for $25 – how can you go wrong?
BLOCK IT LIKE ITS HOT
Continuing the trend of pops of colour, the contrasting blocks on these lightweight tops are perfectly paired with black pants for an easy office-to-party look. Tons of colour combinations to choose from – I’m leaning towards blue hues this holiday season. Bonus: loose fitting and comfy tops hide those extra Christmas cookies!
CANDY CANE STRIPES
If there was any doubt that stripes are HOT this season, one look at the Old Navy dresses section will settle it once and for all. Predominantly featured in all colours, thicknesses and lengths, these dresses should be paired with solid tights and boots for the highest WOW factor. If you’re feeling particularly fashion forward, colour contrast your tights (snowy white with black dresses; emerald green with shades of blue, etc).
COZY CARDIGANS FOR EVERYONE
Is there anything better in a cold, drafty office than a simple, warm cardigan? Perfect for layering over tees and tanks, I love teaming up colourful cardigans with a black pencil skirt for a “sexy teacher” look (minus the bun and glasses, of course. Okay, maybe the glasses). Shorter cardigans are also great for stashing in your purse to throw over holiday dresses; just be sure to stick with basic black to keep it dressy.
WARM THOUGHTS
Finish your holiday look with a bold and bright wool coat. Quick check to see of you’re on trend this season: if your coat is black, brown, gray or white – it’s time to update your wardrobe with a pop of colour. Old Navy makes it easy with affordable styles under $60, available in all shades of the rainbow. Not sure you’re ready to go bold? Simply pair your basic black or white coat with bright skinny jeans and fabulous booties or ballerina flats. Pizzazz in a pinch!
Live in the GTA? Pop on over to Old Navy’s newly remodeled Eaton Centre store. The redesign gives customers nearly 20,000 sq. ft. of improved Old Navy shopping experience with a new store layout, better signage and product accessibility. It’s also incredibly family friendly – quick change pods throughout the store make it easier for mom and her kids to quickly “pop in” and try something on. It’s quite the awesome shopping experience!
I love Old Navy! They have fab clothes for the whole family at great prices!
They do! I’ve become a huge fan over the last year!
Really like the silver glitter tank on top. I have the perfect cardigan to pair it with!
Oooh I hope you picked it up!
I bought that silver sparkle tank and paired it with a black blazer and black dress pants for a holiday gala. It was the perfect bling to jazz up a classic suit.
I can just picture it on you Caroline – I bet it looked smashing!
Love Old Navy! I’m petite, and their girl’s yoga pants in large fit me perfectly without the need to get them hemmed!
I’ll have to check out their Holiday additions – thanks!
Love their Goga pants! I think I have 8 pairs!
Loooove Old Navy! I tried on the black sequined tank top, thinking I’d buy it to wear for Christmas Eve or Christmas day, but when I stepped out of the change room, my husband said “Please do not buy that!” :( I guess he’s not a fan of extreme sparkle =P So I went and bought a beautiful $75 dress instead – ha!
Hahaha your husband is quite the style critic! Glad you hit him upstyle and went for the dress!
The silver sparkle tank is a definite steal at $15. I can see it paired with a suit, skirt or even black jeggings. Thanks for the great finds!
You’re very welcome – happy shopping!
These are very nice. And Old Navy always has good prices.

The holidays (for me) are the perfect excuse to wear sequins and sparkles!
I think sequins and sparkles are great all year round – but definitely more accessible and accepted during the holidays!

If you enjoy getting cheap for cheaper, I totally took advantage of free sheeping over $50 (or the few times it’s been free shipping on anything) and the 30% off everything sales. Over the course of the past 2 weeks I’ve spent almost $300 and have gotten in over $800+ worth of clothing and accessories for myself and my kids bewteen OldNavy, Gap, and The Children’s Place:) I believe the 30% off Gap/OldNavy/BananaRepublic ends at midnight tonight!
That’s awesome Crystal! Love all three stores for their awesome savings. And I certainly hope all my readers took advantage of the 30% off!
