Oh Martha, You Did it Again!

November 25, 2012 By Lena

Call me crazy, but when I think of holiday decorations, The Home Depot does not immediately come to mind. In fact, I think I just figured out that they sell Christmas trees, too.

Have I been living under a rock?

Not only do they have a remarkable selection of decor at AMAZING prizes, but they also have exclusive holiday collections from Martha Stewart Living. And, when Ms. Martha sets up shop, you know it’s gotta be fabulous. This year’s collections – Winterberry, Arctic and Celebrate – offer a beautiful assortment of ornaments, wreaths, holiday trees and accessories to complement traditional, contemporary and even super glam tastes.

Introducing…

WINTERBERRY: With red as the focal point, this collection is for the holiday traditionalist at heart. The frosted woodland theme includes deer, owls, birds, pine cones, and berry wreaths, plus hints of white, champagne and gingerbread to complement the strong Christmas red. This collection is especially suited to homes with dark wood accents or spaces with exposed brick walls.

ARTIC: If your décor style is a more contemporary look with a preference for cooler tones (love grey!), this collection is an excellent match. The elegant, snow-covered Arctic theme is a fanciful take on the holiday with snowflakes, polar bears, penguins and icicles. The colour palette includes ice white, silver, turquoise and deep blue, making it a fitting choice for a modern condo or industrial space.

CELEBRATE: If you love the glitz and the glamour of holiday entertaining, then you’ll appreciate the Celebrate collection for its warm and inviting look.  Marked by bronze and gold décor, this theme includes sparkling wreaths, elegant baubles and swirl-patterned gold ribbon to ensure a sophisticated statement in any home.

Although we live in a home in the suburbs – not a modern condo or industrial space by any stretch of the imagination – we’ve always favoured the Arctic look. In fact, we’ve had a “Blue Christmas” for as long as I can remember… and even though my husband suggests switching up the turquoise, silver and white decor every year, I’m always hesitant to let go of our Arctic ambiance.

This year, I’m looking forward to incorporating pieces from the Martha Stewart Living collection at The Home Depot. Will be sure to post pictures! In the meantime, check out the gorgeous pieces online –

I love the warmth the red touches give the first room! I’m all about red this year for Christmas decorating and will be checking out Martha Stewart Living collection – I want a large red berry wreath for over the fireplace! Thanks for the heads up :)

You’re welcome! The Martha Stewart collection has a few twists on the traditional wreath – including the red ones you see above, of course. Happy shopping!

I love the one with all the greenery. Though they are all festive and gorgeous. Well, I guess I’ll take out my decorations and head over to Home Depot … so I can add to my collection. :)

It’s always so much fun to add to the collection! I must admit, I’ve put aside a few as well to make room for new ones! Also, love that the MS ones are shatter-proof (a must with toddlers!)

I too had no idea that Home Depot had Christmas ornaments, and certainly not Martha Stewart! A very timely post Lena, I’ll have to pop in this week.

These rooms are gorgeous! I am a sucker for a blue/silver colour scheme (they were my wedding colours!), but I have to say I love the room in the first picture the best (Winterberry) – it looks so pretty, warm, and inviting!

Me too! I was briefly considering flipping over the Winterberry this year, but I think I’ll stick with my blue/silver theme…. at least one more time!

I love pieces from all three collections. I would probably mix and match from the three.

I do a blue and silver theme and then the next year its red and gold. Maybe it’s time to hit The Home Depot and branch into a new colour scheme? Green and bronze?

    • Lena

      December 1, 2012 at 6:38 pm

Oooh, love green and bronze! So earthy and classic!

I had no idea Home Depot sold the Martha Stewart Collection pieces – thanks! Can’t wait to go there, as we desperately need new decorations! I love the green/bronze, so earthy and stunning, but all three have some gorgeous items.

Love the winterberry picture – I am a traditionalist. I can’t say I like going to Home Depot though – that same traditionalist doesn’t like the big box store.

Ah, very interesting perspective! While I too love finding quaint, original pieces for Christmas, I do love this collection (hides face and big box store receipt)…

Oh I would love to have any one of these unfortunately I lack the imagination and artistic talent it takes, wish there was someone who I could hire to do that just for one year!

Oh Doris, don’t sell yourself short! All you need is a cheat sheet and lots of pictures for inspiration ;)
