Holiday Resistance is Futile…

November 25, 2012 By Lena

… especially when these holiday products have Christmas themes right in their names.

Now the question is… would you use these products all year round, or stick to the season? I must admit I’d have a problem applying “Have a Cherry Christmas” lip gloss in June. Is it just me? Thoughts?

Do you purchase holiday-themed makeup? Are beauty products with a seasonal twist more attractive to you – or less so, because of their limited use?

I would totally use a lip gloss year round. When it comes to holiday themed soap, I wouldn’t keep it at my sink after the tree comes down. If it’s in my purse, who cares…as long as it tastes great!

This is true – but would you be drawn to the scent of eggnog in the middle of the summer? Still trying to get over this, I have issues!

I would say less attractive because of their seasonal twist.

I will admit it, holiday themed nail polishes and soaps find a way into my house:)

But of course they do – they’re irresistible!

The smells. Cranberry, gingerbread, cinnamon and pine. The sparkle nails and makeup. The accessories with bling. Love, Love, LOVE it all.

I dont mind holiday themed makeup but as it doesnt get used year round I rarely buy new items. My gold and silver eyeshadows are years old!

    • Lena

      December 1, 2012 at 8:42 am

Well, the good thing about eyeshadows is that they have a long shelf life!

The red & green OPI polish and Gingerman Body Shop Butter say Christmas too much, but I’d use the others for sure!

Especially the stila palette – those colours are gorgeous!

Awesome picks! There are a lot of scents associated with Christmas that I love (especially cinnamon and peppermint!) so those products always catch my eye!

I love the name of “Good Tidings We Bling” – so cute!

I know – I love the creative names too :)

If it’s something no else sees, like lip gloss, I’m fine with it. Something that others will see like a snowflake so, no I wouldn’t use.

Interesting! You’re not alone – quite a few other readers have said the same thing!

I’m generally not a fan of holiday themed products. Usually if they are scented I;m not interested as I don’t like candycane scents etc. There is the odd product which I like which happens to be holiday themed by generally I stay away.

    • Lena

      December 1, 2012 at 8:49 am

That’s good to know – I’m always curious as to how many people are actually influenced by them.

I would stick to the season.

no point resisting, i’ll buy it if it’s a good product. not if it screams christmas though

I bought the Candy Cane BBW soap after the holidays last year – it was on clearance for $1.75 so I couldn’t resist. Will be breaking it out this year!

I’ve bought Body Shop’s cranberry scented products and don’t mind using it all year. That’s the only seasonal scent I think I’d use all the time.

    • Lena

      December 1, 2012 at 8:50 am

Yes, cranberry seems acceptable as an all-year-round fragrance.

If a product screams Christmas I stick it away after the holidays too! NIce to hear I’m not the only one…lol.

I do enjoy holiday products but put them away after the season has ended and bring them out again the following season!

I don’t really buy into the christmas themed makeup. But i can’t resist the christmas themed scented soaps from bath & body. I went all out on black friday and got one of each. I’m currently using the Frosted Apple and it smells amazing! The scents are a nice touch in getting into the christmas spirit!

    • Lena

      December 1, 2012 at 8:51 am

Oooh, I will definitely have to check out the frosted apple – sounds sweet!

    • Lena

I know. I’d love a tree full of OPI ornaments, wouldn’t you?

      LOVE The Body’s Shop’s cranberry too :)

It’s less attractive because you can’t use them at other times.

    • Lena

      December 16, 2012 at 8:20 am

True! That’s the way many people see it!

Yes, I’ve bought some seasonal make-up since you can get some really cool products at this time of year. I don’t buy a lot, since, as you say, some of them can’t be worn all year, I bought a Smashbox beige glitter eyeshadow, which I wore for the past two winters.

    • Lena

      December 16, 2012 at 8:21 am

Oooh, the Smashbox eye shadow sounds divine!

I would use them all year. most people dont pay close attention to the names/brands other people are using on themselves. and honestly its probably the same product they sell the rest of the year with a different packaging.
