There are some things in life that don’t mix well.
Britney Spears and singing live.
Mexico and drinking water.
Hats and sunglasses (seriously, choose one. Otherwise you’re over-accessorizing.)
And, toddlers and special occasions.
Why must we be subjected to spending tons of money on swanky clothes, knowing that the little ones will grow out of them before the next wedding/anniversary/Communion/Bar Mitzvah/coronation ceremony rolls around?
It is, of course, a part of life. Ryder has attended three weddings in the past three years, and has required a new outfit each time. To tell the truth, the suits and shirt sets don’t bother me too much – Sears always comes through with an affordable, studly outfit – but it’s the shoes. When will my 4 year old wear shiny black tuxedo shoes again???
And so, when one of my then-engaged girlfriends asked Ryder to be a ring boy in her wedding ceremony, I was only too thrilled… and a little bit grumpy. Damn, another pair of $50 dress shoes down the drain.
Thankfully, my girlfriend is very practical: she allowed that as long as the shoes were dark, she didn’t mind if Ryder was decked out in sneakers. What? A pair of wedding shoes he could reuse? Hallelujah!!
So it’s only natural that when I began searching for dark, stylish shoes that Ryder would be comfortable wearing again and again, I thought of SKECHERS.
Think they’re only about fitness trainers? Think again.
SKECHERS has an amazing selection of Boy’s Casual Shoes; with sleek designs and SKECHERS’ savvy craftsmanship, it wasn’t difficult to settle on a style I loved: Quantum Vex in Black. And, since the folks at SKECHERS totally rock, they were happy to send a pair Ryder’s way.
We LOVE:
– Leather, synthetic and mesh fabric upper in a zigzag strap front with stitching and overlay accents
– Adjustable side hook and loop closure for a perfect fit
– Padded collar and tongue, soft fabric shoe lining and cushioned comfort insole
– Shock absorbing sporty midsole and flexible high traction nonmarking rubber outsole
And, the fact that this four year old can get his shoes on and off without any struggle at all. #winning

Ryder walking down the aisle with a fellow ring boy. He looks like he's about to cry (he didn't), but at least his shoes are comfortable!

After the ceremony, he was much more at peace. Check out his sweet little outfit, including his super stylish SKECHERS!
(In case you haven’t noticed, even though I spent 9 months carrying him and 26 hours labouring, Ryder looks exactly like his father. #refundplease)
We are thrilled with SKECHERS casual shoes for boys. With the summer season just days away, why not grab some stylish, quality footwear that will keep up with them?
Looks like the next star!! Go Portugal!
Ole Ronaldo, Ole!!!!!!!!
Ha! Well, we’ll see what we can do :)
Ryder looks so cute in his outfit at the wedding ceremony and the skechers look very comfortable on him. I’m sure Ryder will get good use of his awesome skechers!
He will! Honestly, he wears them every single day – and they’re SO easy to put on/take off!
Your DS is so cute! Love the shoes, love Skechers!
Us too! And thank you!
The shoes are great! Really like that they’re black but still have unmarking soles.
You know what- until he started soccer, I didn’t even give unmarking soles a thought! But yes, what a great feature!
That’s awesome!! And great of your friend to not be so uptight about the shoes, ha ha! Long limbs is right, eh? Ryder is not a toddler at all anymore!! He’s a little man!!
I know, I was so pleased, ha ha ha! Yes, he’s a little man for sure!
Skechers are known for comfortable shoes and I think kids should have comfortable shoes too.
