Drop Everything! Try a McCafé Real Fruit Smoothie.

April 18, 2012 By Lena

This is WAY too much deliciousness for one post.

I want to keep this short and sweet – because rather than reading a long, drawn-out tale about the taste, texture and technical merits of McDonald’s NEW Real Fruit Smoothies, I’d rather you just drop everything and go try one for yourself.

Seriously folks, they’re THAT good.

Made with real fruit purée, low-fat yogurt and blended ice, McCafé Real Fruit Smoothies are available in three mouth-watering flavours – Strawberry Banana, Mango Pineapple and Blueberry Pomegranate. I’ll put this on record: they’re the BEST tasting smoothies I’ve had in a long time. Maybe ever. (You can also have a non-dairy version made with just fruit; I’ve tried both delicious versions and am a very satisfied customer.)

Cold, fruity and incredibly refreshing, I only wish the weather was warmer so we could sip our McCafé Smoothies while taking a leisurely walk along the boardwalk. In time, friends, in time. And in the meantime – try your slicing hand with McD’s Fruit Ninja game, “Fruit Ninja Frenzy“, available exclusively to Canadian Facebook fans.

Wanna try one? GREAT NEWS – Until April 22nd, grab a snack-size Real Fruit Smoothie for just $1 plus tax!

(Remember when I said drop everything? Now you know why!)

A word to the wise: if you’ve got children treat burglars, be sure to get them one of their own, or yours will go missing. You’ve been warned.

OMG – your crouching toddler is the sweetest boy EVER! Reading your description makes me want to give McD smoothies another chance – I last tried a McD smoothie in 2010 when we went to Florida – it tasted like strawberry jam – gross!

For $1 – it’s definitely worth a try this weekend – my kids LOVE smoothies – we usually stop at Booster juice before grocery shopping – but McDs are easier to find!

Haha, thanks Ella! I think for $1 you definitely can’t go wrong. The mango pineapple is soooo good.

I was JUST talking about this with my kids this morning! They’ve tried it and loved it. But we were talking about how funny it is that they have to say “Real Fruit Smoothies” because there are so many artificial, fruit-like drinks out there, that they need to clarify that, yes, there is ACTUAL fruit in these things.

Happy to hear a good review of them..thanks!

You’re absolutely right! With so many artificially-flavoured concoctions, it’s no wonder McD’s needs to remind customers. Enjoy!

Crouching Toddler, Hidden Smoothie … that cracked me up.

I wouldn’t have thought to give the McD’s smoothies a chance. Thanks for the tip!

No problem! Hope you love them as much as I do!

They are great, we agree! I <3 the Mango Pineapple!

Oh, me too. In fact, I first tried the Mango Pineapple in San Diego last year… can’t believe McD’s made us Canadians wait so long to enjoy them too!

Damn girl my curiosity is peaked. I will try them! And your son is adorable!

sorry but i’m doubting that these things are 1) made from REAL fruit, 2) remotely healthy

You’re such a pessimist! They are made from REAL fruit puree, and it’s up to you to decide the health of the beverage by consulting the nutritional information (which McD’s is very transparent about). Just try one! You’ll like it :)

My hubby and I loved these too…until today when we read on The Star that they have the equivalent of 14 teaspoons of sugar. #fail

      April 27, 2012 at 8:56 pm

I’m okay with that. It’s fruit sugar, and fruits are good for you, right? :)

I’m just finding any ol’ excuse because they are so darn delish.

Ha! Apparently! I love when you stop by!

Soulla — I read the same thing. Timmy’s and Starbucks’ offerings are no better. All like drinking a large Coke. Blech! My nutritionist outright banned me from all store-bought smoothies. Sigh. I defy her at all opportunities, though! Booster Juice is to die for!

I love smoothies but the McDonald’s smoothies are amazing. The strawberry banana and mango pineapple are my favorites but truthfully the Blueberry Pomegranate is really good too
