*EDIT* The Mr. Coffee Single Serve Coffee Maker is on SALE this week at Walmart for just $48.00! Can’t think of a better holiday gift for the coffee lovers on your list.
(Valid November 18-24, 2011)
… Yes, I love Mr. Coffee. And I’m not even cheating on my husband by saying it – heck, he loves him too.
Great news, folks – Mr. Coffee is in Canada! And with their über-convenient Single Serve Coffee Maker, featuring Keurig brewing technology, chances are you’ll be declaring your undying devotion too. It’s that awesome.
“Canadians shouldn’t have to compromise taste or quality for convenience when it comes to enjoying a good cup of coffee,” says Adam Ball, director of marketing, Jarden Consumers Solutions. “Mr. Coffee Single Serve Coffee Makers use Keurig’s patented, powerful brewing engine, so Canadians can indulge in a coffeehouse experience at home.”
I received the machine for review a few months ago. Now here’s the scoop: rather than write about it, I thought I’d show you why it’s so hot! Turn your speakers up – I had to speak in a lower voice as the kiddos were in bed :)
Are you in love yet? Well, here are few points that I really ought to mention:
– Because it utilizes Keurig’s patented single-serve K-Cup portion packs, you’ll have your choice of more than 250 varieties of high quality coffee, tea, hot cocoa and more.
– Speaking of K-Cups, you can find them anywhere. Seriously, just about every major retailer carries them, and while slightly more expensive than traditional coffee, for the convenience and taste, you can’t beat it (about $0.65 per cup).
– If you’d like to brew a taller cup (or travel mug), the removable drip tray slides out to easily accommodate 6” mugs.
– Are you ready for this? The cost. You can currently pick up one of these machines for just $59.00! At that price, for a K-cup coffee brewer, you simply cannot go wrong.
(FYI – the suggested retail price of this coffee maker is $79.95. Sears.ca is currently retailing the unit for $129.99, whereas Walmart.ca has the exact same model for $59.00. Seriously, half price? Get this baby under the tree for ALL of your loved ones.)
I’m currently debating whether I should pick one up for my basement, as my husband has his office downstairs and we like to entertain. It would be so convenient to set up a little coffee area for guests. Hmm…
If you have any questions about the machine, don’t hesitate to leave a comment! But to sum it up…
Keurig K-Cup Technology + Convenience + Affordability = 100% Lena Approved!
We have one at work…..best thing EVER! German chocolate cake…YUMMERS!
OMG. German Chocolate Cake? #officialcraving
Mmmmmmm…LOVE German Chocolate cake! I love that you can use Keurig cups but the machine is a fraction of the price of a real Keurig! I'll definitely pass this one around :)
That’s why I LOVE it! For just $59, I really don’t think you can go wrong, especially if you don’t mind refilling (which actually isn’t a detriment in my family because we rarely drink coffee at the same time).
Lena I looooove you! I was trying to find a present for my niece who just moved into a small condo in the city, I think she would love this. Thanks!
You’re welcome!
Sending DH out to buy it tonight!
sweet!
Holy cow, $59??! Thanks for posting this. I've wanted to try a k-cup unit for some time, because the bevvie selection rather rocks in comparison to what's available for the TASSIMO.
yup, that’s precisely why I flipped over. Signed, former TASSIMO user.
I kicked myself when I bought an actual Keurig brewer and then saw this at Walmart 2 days later while I was looking for a coffee carousel. I would have bought the Mr. Coffee system having known it was that much cheaper, and certainly after reading your review.
Oh, sucks. Well, you at least you still bought a quality machine which offers advantages over this brewer, but I hear you about the $$$.
I'm with Maple Leaf Mommy: Holy cow, $59??! Thanks a lot for the review. I think even my nana could operate this. Scratch one more person off the holiday list.BTW, I've been reading your blog for a few months now. As a dude, I can say that there's a lot of useful information on this "MOMMY BLOG." Keep up the great work Lena.
thanks Mark! And yes, $59!!!
I JUST BOUGHT ONE. THANK YOU FOR YOUR REVIEW!
You’re very welcome! Enjoy!
I have the actual Keurig machine and although it was more expensive, I liked that it has a reservoir of water so I don't have to fill it every time. Great review Lena!
@Miranda – Yup, I can definitely see why it's an advantage, especially if you're brewing more than one cup at a time. I had a Keurig years ago and wouldn't hesitate to invest in one again.
Lena I just bought one!!!!! We love it!!!I was supposed to buy it just for my niece but at that price couldn't resist and we picked one up for ourselves. It's so awesome and convenient to use!!! Thanks for the review because I wouldn't have known about it otherwise.
Wonderful! Enjoy!
We bought it Lena! It's so great and like you said so easy to use. I just played your video to my husband and we had our first cup minutes later. Thank you for introduing it to us!
That is AWESOME DeeDee! So happy you love it!
I LOVE my K-cup brewer, we bought the mini plus at Wal Mart for under $100. I am actually K-cup shopping this weekend with a review to come soon :)
Looking forward to it!
Here’s MY thing. You can’t recycle the little coffee thingies. Seems sooooo wasteful.
True; but you can do two things to help the environment – since you can brew a variety of beverages in under a minute, you can bypass the coffee drive-thru on the way to work – thereby reducing waste from paper cups. And, you can also purchase a “Keurig My K-Cup Reusable Coffee Filter” for just $15, which allows you to use your own gourmet ground coffee in a Keurig brewer (eliminating waste from the little coffee thingies).
Good points.
Thanks for the feedback, and for circling back! Have a great day!
Wow $48? I nearly picked it up when it was $59 – this is even better! I’m still debating between Keurig and a Nespresso machine as I’ve heard raves about both. My sister has a Tassimo but the beverages are ok – nothing amazing (I’ve had the cappucinno and the hot chocolate).
I made the switch from TASSIMO to Keurig this year and am happy I did; I find the K-Cups to brew a much nicer cup of coffee. And, keep in mind that the Nespresso and Mr. Coffee are two VERY different machines – so think about what you want from it (specialty beverages/espresso vs. coffee) – that should help you make your decision!
I’ve learn a few excellent stuff here. Definitely price bookmarking for revisiting. I surprise how a lot effort you place to create this sort of great informative site.
