Remember this post? I Want It: Dyson DC35 Digital Slim. Well, I got it. And it’s pretty darn fabulous.
Since I’d been lusting after the NEW Dyson DC35 Digital Slim, I was pleased as punch when the good folks at Dyson asked me to test drive their hot little multi-floor vacuum. Now I normally don’t jump to review household products (Lena + Cleaning = Avoidance) but I just couldn’t resist the call of the new DC35:
“No clean up is too big (or out-of-reach) for Dyson’s latest technology. Condo, closet and clean-freak friendly, Dyson introduces DC35 – the most powerful lightweight vacuum. And, it’s cordless!”
Yes please!
The vacuum features Dyson’s famous power-efficient, high performance digital motor (which runs 3 times faster than conventional motors) and even has a “Dual Power” mode that allows you to adjust suction power. Since I have two little boys that create really big messes, I switched to MAX Power indefinitely to help pick up leftover snackin’s. Here’s a quick video of my DC35 making Cheerios disappear in just over 10 seconds:
(I actually made my husband do this a few times, as the little ones were clamoring to be in the video. They love the vacuum too.)
Of course, the vacuum does much more than rescue wayward Cheerios – it also boasts a detachable long-reach wand to clean up high, down low and into awkward gaps (think in between stair spindles and above window frames). The DC35’s motorized floor tool is a wizard on hard floors and carpet, with absolutely zero loss of suction. Detach the wand to use it as a handheld vacuum for spot cleaning, upholstery and inside the car. Genuis!
If you’re a condo owner, this vacuum could conceivably replace more expensive models while being an efficient space-saver. The vacuum performs as well as most stand-up vacuums: with its anti-static carbon fiber brushes for hard floors, stiff nylon brushes for carpets and ability to maintain constant floor contact, the DC35 will change the way you look at cordless vacuums. Click here for more details on the motorized floor tool.
I used the vacuum for cleaning up under couches, beds and the dreaded stairs. While my husband was hesitant to sing its praises as a Cheerio-collector alone, he was quickly converted once he started wielding the detachable long-reach wand. When was the last time you cleaned under your bed with a cordless vacuum?
Some people have opined that once charged, the vacuum retains a very short lifespan before a re-charge is necessary. I must admit, I did not perform a dedicated test to measure the battery life. But I will say this: I was able to vacuum my stairs, in between spindles, under the bed, around the kitchen and over a few window frames for good measure – all in the same battery cycle. So for day-to-day routine tasks, I’d say the battery life is more than adequate. I love this vacuum!
The DC35 is now available at The Bay, Home Outfitters, Bed Bath & Beyond, Future Shop, BestBuy.ca and all Dyson authorized independent retailers for $349.99.
You can also shop online at Dyson Canada.
I remember the day we purchased our upright Dyson vacuum…we "experimented" by cleaning in places that had probably never been cleaned before in our house! It had never (and still has never) been so clean!I'm jealous!
